Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the Public Service Commission:
 
A. Requirements for Appointment
 
1. Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Commission
 
A person shall be qualified for appointment as the Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of the Commission if that person:

(a) is a citizen of Kenya;
 
(b) holds a degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
 
(c) has at least fifteen years experience in their respective profession;
 
(d) has at least six years experience in top level management in either the public or private sector; and
 
(e) meets the requirements of leadership and integrity in Chapter six of the Constitution.
 
2. Member of the Commission
 
A person shall be qualified for appointment as a Member, if such person:
 
(a) is a citizen of Kenya;
 
(b) holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
 
(c) has at least ten years experience in their respective profession; and
 
(d) meets the requirements of leadership and integrity in Chapter six of the Constitution.
 
3. A person is not eligible for appointment as a Member of the Commission if the person:-
 
(a) has, at any time within the preceding five years, held office, or stood for election as –
 
(i) a member of Parliament; or
 
(ii) a member of the governing body of a political party; or
 
(b) holds any State office;
 
(c) is, or has at any time been, a candidate for election as a member of Parliament; or

(d) is, or has at any time been, the holder of an office in any political organization that sponsors or otherwise supports, or has at any time sponsored or otherwise supported a candidate for election as a member of Parliament.
 
Please note that 3 (c) and (d) above will not apply to a person after two general elections for Parliament have been held since the person ceased to be such a candidate or office holder.
 
B. Duration of Appointment
 
One six-year non-renewable term.
 
C. Terms of Service
 
(i) Full-time;
 
(ii) Shall not hold any other office or employment for profit whether public or private; and
 
(iii) Remuneration and benefits will be as set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

Senior Associate – Commercial

The client
 
Our client, Muthaura Mugambi Ayugi & Njonjo Advocates, a reputable full service law firm that provides a broad range of corporate and commercial legal services across all sectors across the East Africa Region, is looking forward to filling the position of Senior Associate in the Commercial Department.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

Based in Kenya, your duties and responsibilities shall include:
  • Drawing up and reviewing various legal documents including but not limited to contracts, agreements, opinions, deeds, and other documents required when representing the Firm’s clients;
  • Providing support and assistance to the Department’s Partners whether as a transaction team resource or working individually;
  • Conducting client meetings and maintaining general contact with the client;
  • Conducting legal research;
  • Supervising and coordinating activities of legal support personnel;
  • Remaining current on legal developments;
  • Providing training, guidance and materials to other members of the Firm;
  • Participating in and meaningfully contributing to Firm activities including all regular and ad hoc reporting programs and/or structures, and professional development strategies.
Education qualifications:
  • A technically strong advocate with over 3 years’ Post Qualification Experience with solid exposure to commercial law practice;
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance is an added bonus.
  • LLB degree from a recognised university (Minimum Upper Second);
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya or an equivalent qualification in the Commonwealth (with the intention to immediately qualify to practice in Kenya);
  • Broad base of legal practice experience;
Skills and attributes
  • Fluency in English is mandatory;
  • Practical work experience in East Africa, notably Kenya is an added advantage
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Developed interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and work diplomatically with Clients and individuals at all levels across the Firm;
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with all individuals across the Firm;
  • Must have high moral integrity and character;
  • Highly organised and good time management skills;
  • PC and other relevant technology competencies (e.g., Microsoft applications);
  • Focused on performance and results;
  • Poised to work under pressure and must have high energy and drive;
  • Focused and inquisitive learner who proactively pursues opportunities to build expertise.

National Individual Consultant
 
Project Officer – Post Elections Violence Livelihood Recovery Project
 
Background and Rationale
 
The Post- Election Violence Livelihoods Recovery Project was developed to restore and expand livelihoods opportunities for communities that were intensely affected by the post-election violence in 2007/2008. 

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the post-election violence recovery and reintegration process through restoration of livelihoods in affected areas.
 
The project supports livelihoods recovery including recovery of small businesses through provision of basic entrepreneurial knowledge, technical skills, capital and building resilience of populations affected by post elections violence crisis. 

The project is implemented in four counties namely Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasi Gishu and Kisumu

Overall Objective
 
The overall objective of the consultancy to provide support to the project through the Ministry of State for Special Programmes.
