Job Summary:
·       Reports to the Deputy-Director & Head of Scientific Programmes
·       Manages the grant-related programme activities of the Consortium
Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Undertake CNHR’s grant-related activities which includes grant negotiation processes, award, monitoring for compliance, general administration and closure;
·       Undertake the preparation of contracts, grant correspondence, grantee payments based on CNHR’s and funder guidelines;
·       Review progress reports from CNHR funded projects (financial and narrative) and communicate outcomes and recommended action to CNHR’s Programme Management Committee (PMC) as well as to the grantees;
·       Coordinate the pre- and post- award activities including monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of grantee projects and preparation of outcome reports;
·       Participate in the merit review process of grant project proposals;
·       Participate in the development of proposals for funding of CNHR activities;
·       Participate in the preparation of funder reports;
·       Manage the CNHR grants database;
·       Undertake all routine correspondence with grantees on behalf of the Consortium.
Requirements:

Qualifications:
·       A Masters degree in health-related field or social sciences
·       Additional qualification in a grants management related field will be an added advantage
Experience and Skills:
·       Experience (over 3 years) in working in a busy grant management office
·       Knowledge in project design and M&E
·       Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken)
·       Ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines and coordinate multiple demands
·       Ability to read, understand and evaluate progress reports from researchers
·       Excellent skills in use of computer softwares for word-processing, spreadsheet analysis and construction of databases
·       Excellent negotiation skills
·       Good interpersonal attributes and be a team player

Key Responsibilities:

·       Manage the payroll accurately
·       Review all returns/imprest from the field and ensure it is in line with approved budgets
·       Preparing Financial Statements and other reports, summarizing current and projected financial position ensuring availability of funds to meet obligations.
·       Ensuring that, proper authorization of all payments is strictly followed and supported.
·       Ensuring proper preparation of payment vouchers, cheque books and cash book records as well as financial statements and entries to monthly accounts in accordance with accounting regulations.
·       Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts held by the organization
·       Support Finance Manager in implementation and review of systems of financial controls
·       In the absence of the Financial Manager, undertake day to day responsibilities for managing finance with the support of the Chief Executive Officer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ideal candidate will have the following skills;-
·       Proficiency in computerised accounting
·       Knowledge and experience using QuickBooks a MUST
·       Experience managing multiple grants
·       Familiarity with EU/USAID grant accounting
Academic Qualifications and Competence:
·       A Bachelor of Commerce degree, Accounting/finance option, plus CPAII
·       Minimum 2 years work experience in a non-profit environment
·       Availability- Immediately

FAO Somalia – Country Office in Nairobi is seeking to employ an Enterprise Development Officer.

Under the general supervision of the Officer in Charge for Somalia and under the direct supervision of the Marketing and Trade Officer/Infrastructure Development Officer, the Enterprise Development officer will be responsible for the following tasks:

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Identify, organize, mobilize and create a database for community-based, private organizations and individuals, especially service providers and entrepreneurs by taking lead in the identification and follow-up of project partners.
·       Support the development and implementation of overall project work plan, identify appropriate Micro financing models and income-generating activities to be promoted within the project areas.
·       Develop strategy for the growth and management of Revolving Fund and community contributions including specific guidelines how communities could tap these resources for local development activities.
·       Mobilize through participatory processes and strengthen linkages between local banks, business communities, women and youth Self Help Groups to support new product development through promotion of MF models.
·       Pilot test Micro financing models in selected groups and locations and follow-up with the local entrepreneurs and private business groups to ensure sustainable contribution to livelihoods.
·       Implement Entrepreneurship Development Training programmes ( EDPs), Conduct Business counseling and assist in the preparation of Business plans to facilitate growth and development of small scale credit and basic management with special attention to women and youth.
·       Prepare semi-annual (six month) progress reports in the area under his/her responsibility
Minimum Requirements

Education:
·       The candidate should hold a University degree in Arts based or related fields.
·       Familiarity with the UN operational and management systems is essential.
Work Experience:
·       At least three years of professional experience in managing rural Microcredit schemes and assessments in Somalia is preferred.
·       Experience in community level operations and participatory approaches of data gathering will be an added advantage.
Languages: Working knowledge (level C) of English and working knowledge of the most widely used local language.

·       Relevance and level of academic qualifications;.
·       Extent of experience in Micro-enterprise or operations/administration;
·       Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
·       Ability to identify and resolve problems expeditiously and pragmatically;

·       Innovative, able to take risk and able to lead or participate in new product developments to support livelihoods.
