VSF Suisse Water Development Officer Job Vacancy

VSF Suisse is an International NGO supporting humanitarian and development interventions in the region mainly in Southern Sudan, Kenya, and Somalia.

VSF Suisse focus is on the alleviation of hunger, poverty, diseases and suffering of people in whose cultures and livelihoods livestock play a major role.

VSF-Suisse seeks to fill the following position for its ECHO funded Regional Drought Decision Project (RDD) Improved Community Response to Drought (ICRD) project implemented in Wajir and Isiolo counties.

The position is field based (remote) and candidates should be willing to reside and work under basic living conditions.

Water Development Officer (1 Position)

Key Responsibilities:-

• This position reports to the Team Leader and will be responsible for the Water development component of the Project.
• Oversee construction and repair of selected water sources (e.g. shallow water wells, subsurface water reservoirs/dams).
• Train & organize Community members on water use and maintenance/protection of water resources.
• Oversee procurement for construction supplies while Monitoring, Reviewing & Reporting on allocated budgets.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills required.

• University degree or Diploma in Civil/Agricultural or other relevant engineering field.
• Knowledge & Experience in construction of underground wells and subsurface water reservoirs.
• Experience in the implementation of Rural Development Projects.
• Strong communication skills
• Knowledge and experience of working with Pastoral Communities will be an added advantage
