We are seeking for two (2) Research Officers to be based at AMREF Headquarters.

Key responsibilities
  • Responding to directions from the Programme Director on research and the Programme Manager in conducting MNCH research related activities;
  • Being proactive in initiating research ideas in MNCH;
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of planned programme activities;
  • Collecting and maintaining data from primary and secondary sources;
  • Conducting data analysis using Microsoft excel, stata, SPSS or other applications;
  • Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing evidence on all topics;
  • Assisting in preparation of discussion papers, programme reports, policy briefs, and journal articles;
  • Assisting in programme monitoring and reporting;
  • Assisting the programme manager in coordination of all programme activities across the AMREF country teams ;
  • Assisting in implementation of adjustments to the research methods and support of the centralized data management effort;
  • Assisting in budget preparations and safeguarding against project funds and asset misuse
  • Assisting in reviewing the quality of existing social and economic data in the programme area, the methods of collecting it and the degree to which it will provide good baseline statistics for impact evaluation.
  • Assisting in writing research papers on specific regional/international issues as relevant
Key qualifications and experience
  • The ideal candidates will have a master’s in Public Health and a relevant degree, 3 years experience with at least 1 year working with an NGO.
  • S/he should have research experience and demonstrated research skills (knowledge of computing, data collection and management, statistical analysis, data coding etc); with monitoring and evaluation skills.
In addition, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and facilitation skills.
