Inoorero University wishes to recruit a mature, committed and self-driven individual for the position of Communications Officer

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To plan, develop and deliver all external and internal communications of IU in print and electronic format, provide leadership to university's overall communications and public affairs agenda, and contribute to the development of an IU Communication Strategy.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Develop and manage communication pieces, both in print and online, whose primary purpose is to communicate the university’s story to external and internal audiences.
  • Produce online and printed publications whose focus is the internal audience, although these are also read by people outside the IU community.
  • Harness and manage student resources, especially journalism students in carrying out departmental tasks in order to give IU students industry exposure and training.
  • In charge of IU PR calendar and activities.
  • Manage IU Media relations, including drafting press releases.
  • Develop and manage the IU communications project calendar; and deliver communications within assigned deadlines.
  • Generate story items for both print and web publications produced by IU.
  • Participate in all aspects of print and electronic publications, in order to ensure and maintain high level of quality and consistency with IU brand.
  • To develop and maintain an IU communication database of who will receive regular IU publications.
Technical skills/competencies
  • Strong writing and editing skills,
  • IT proficiency and the use of communication software applications,
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities,
  • Time management skills,
  • Prepare and manage project budgets,
  • Strong teamwork skills,
  • Manage and work with internal and external business partners and vendors,
Education and experience
  • An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Communications, PR.
  • 2 years working experience preferably in Communications, Public Relations
