Terms of Reference (TORS) for a Researcher

Zinduka Afrika (ZAF) is registered in Kenya as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). ZAF’s vision is to ensure that communities live and dignified and quality lives.

The organization implements projects in Primary and Preventive Health Care and Treatment, Secure and Sustainable Livelihoods, Child Support and Protection and Gender and Human Rights Programs.

The Organization intends to engage a Researcher for a period of Five (5) working days, to carry out research on the status of ECOSOC Rights among the marginalized (Women, youth, people with disabilities) populations in the informal settlements of Nairobi with an emphasis on Embakasi and Makadara Districts. The project will ensure gender mainstreaming.

Role of the Researcher

The researcher will carry out the study in the informal settlements in Nairobi (Embakasi and Makadara) districts.

The scope of work:
  • Conduct the noted research.
  • Present to the Zinduka Afrika a research document on the stated subject.
  • Three pages report on the findings, recommendations and conclusion of the research.
  • The work is expected to take five (5) working days.
Required qualification

The qualified researcher must have a registered research firm which has been in existence for at least three years and has conducted at least three similar research( in the ECOSOC rights)

The lead researcher must have at least a Masters Degree in the Social sciences or other related humanities.

He/she must have understanding in Economic, Social and Cultural Rights as stipulated in the International Covenants, and the Kenya Constitution

Process of Application

Applicants should send a cover letter explaining their suitability for the post, Curriculum Vitae, including names and addresses of three referees, and copies of academic certificates.

A profile indicating similar researches they have conducted in the last three year.

A three page proposal with a budget showing cost and timelines and activities on how the research will be conducted.
