Audio Visual Communication Expert

1.1. Main purpose of the job
 
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Audio Visual Communication Expert will implement the EAC Audio-Visual communication work plan. 

The successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day Audio-visual production and performing a variety of tasks and work with audio, video and lighting equipment, with the ultimate goal of producing professional video presentations that clearly communicates the EAC integration agenda. 

This position is an excellent future opportunity to be part of the growing Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department at the EAC Secretariat.
 
1.2 Major Tasks / Responsibilities
 
(i) To set up an Audio-Visual Unit at the EAC Communication Department.
 
(ii) To prepare, plan, and operate audio-visual equipment aids for use in the EAC Sensitization and outreach programmes. Will also record, catalogue, and file audio-visual EAC visual materials.
 
(iii) To be responsible for video production for both news and archive materials and distribute the materials to TV stations across the EAC region through the FTP Servers.

(iv) To upload audio-visual EAC visual materials on You tube.
 
(v) To produce EAC documentaries which will highlight the tangible achievements of the EAC integration and various activities undertaken, as well as advice on how best the documentary materials could be used effectively.
 
(vi) To advise on creation of EAC FTP Server which will act as a link through which the Audio-Visual materials can be shared across the Media Houses in the region. In addition to connect FTP Servers of all TV stations across the region to that of EAC Communication Department.

(vii) To eventually set up a mini TV recording studio for talk shows on EAC integration issues.

1.3 Education
  • Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations and Certificate in Photography and Audio-Visual Technology required. 
  • Bachelor Degree in Journalism and Public Relations and 
  • Additional training in live broadcasting/audio visuals etc will be an added advantage.
1.4 Work Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of live event field experience. 
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to prioritize and multitask, and work collaboratively across the EAC Organs.
1.5 Skills and Competencies
 
(i) Languages
  • English. 
  • Kiswahili and French is an added advantage.
(ii) Other skills required: 
  • Knowledge of technical theory of Audio-Visual communication,
  • Advanced problem solving skills, 
  • Ability to set up, maintain, and troubleshoot computer networks, hardware, and software applications, 
  • Excellent customer service skills proven through demonstrated ability to interact well with people and help others,
  • Intermediate to advanced technical knowledge of Audio, Video, Projection, Computer and Lighting equipment, 
  • Advanced problem solving skills, 
  • Portrays a polished professional image to meet company dress code requirements, 
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs, and 
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of business hours, and weekends if required
Terms and Conditions of Service
 
This is a non-established project position tenable at the EAC Secretariat Headquarters based in Arusha, Tanzania and supported by EAC Partnership Fund.

The above position will be subjected to the EAC quota system.
