Kenya Institute of Administration (KIA) is a premier Training, Research and Consultancy Institute in Public Service.

We are seeking suitable candidates to fill the positions of:

Systems Engineer

Key Results Areas will include:
  • Configures, Maintain and support Institute’s LAN/WAN environment equipments and related services
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
  • Administration of Windows, Novell and Linux systems, business applications, anti-virus protection, email, and authentication
  • Monitors network traffic to identify problems and make capacity planning recommendations with the help of monitoring tools
  • Maintains and updates the network and security infrastructure, tests and implements vendor security patches, implement workarounds for un- patched security vulnerabilities
  • Develop and complete actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements and other disciplines
  • Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution
  • Manage and document system configurations
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum Education: Masters in Computer Science or related field
  • Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security within a Windows Server 2003/2008 environment: Firewalls, Cisco, network switches, Cisco routers, Cisco VPN, Wireless Access Points, IBM server platforms, Windows Server 2003/2008 Active Directory, related backup tape drive
  • Desktop and laptop installation and problem resolution in a Windows XP/Vista Environment
Skills for a Systems Engineer Position:
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
  • Works well individually or in a group setting
  • Effectively directs other team members
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Successfully presents technical information
Remuneration:

Salary scale: Kshs. 90,982 x 2,620 – 101,463 x 3,013 – 113,515.
