Applicants are invited for the post of Chief Executive Officer, Nepad Kenya Secretariat

The Chief Executive Officer shall be accountable to the National Steering Committee(NSC) through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of State for Planning National Development & Vision 2030 for his/her activities and will be responsible for the full and efficient operation for the NEPAD Secretariat.

He/she will be responsible for integrating national and regional NEPAD projects into the NEPAD continental framework, as adopted by the Heads of State Implementation Committee and International Partners.

Specific Tasks
  • Identify, document and implement the medium to long term strategic objectives of the NEPAD secretariat;
  • Liaising with and coordinating with stakeholders including the Government, the Private Sector, Civil Society, the Development Partners and other bilateral and multilateral institutions on NEPAD activities;
  • Organizing partnership forums for bringing together respective stakeholders for purposes of fund raising and mobilizing resources for implementing the NEPAD programmes and activities;
  • Monitoring and evaluation of NEPAD activities at the National, Regional and International level;
  • Constant Liaison with NEPAD Secretariat in South Africa on progress and changes in the principle areas of concern by NEPAD;
  • Prepare periodic progress reports of the secretariat’s activities and implement resolutions made by the NSC;
  • Provide leadership and management of secretariat and other resources.
  • Coordinating the implementation and updating of the National Programmes Action of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) process in the Country including Review and Progress Reports)
  • Facilitating and supporting the work of the National Governing Council of the APRM.
Qualifications and Technical Experience
  • At least a post graduate degree from an internationally recognized university in any of the following disciplines; Economics, Development Studies, International Relations, Business Administration or related areas.
  • Be a Kenya Citizen.
  • Have extensive managerial experience of at least ten (10) years and served as head of a large private or public institution or Department.
  • Have adequate international exposure either in the public or private sector or in an international or multilateral institution.
  • Good understanding of development issues at the national, regional and international levels.
  • A person of the highest integrity, respectability and an excellent communicator
  • Have a good record in areas of governance and accountability.
  • Familiarity with regional and international cooperation matters.
Terms of Service

A three year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance. Salary will be commensurate with the post.
