Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, the Senior Team Lead, will be responsible for increasing access and use of quality data for decision making.

The successful candidate will develop, adapt and scale large-scale information systems. This position will be located in Nairobi.

Main Responsibilities
  • Identify key stakeholders and convene meetings to obtain buy in and support, including the scope and purpose, for a database on Civil Society Organizations in HIV (CSO)
  • Manage a team to gather and document requirements, develop use cases, design the system, develop the system and associated documentation and provide training.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify an appropriate hosting agency, and obtain appropriate permissions to house the database at the identified institution.
  • Identify appropriate business systems and develop business cases for supplying and updating information in the database and obtain appropriate permission, as needed, including stakeholder support.
  • Lead the development of the Civil Society Organizations
  • Build capacity of system users for improved data-driven decision making.
  • Strengthen capacity at the host institution to maintain and use database.
  • Facilitate systems implementation standardization process.
  • Develop and maintain system-wide training materials.
  • Support generalized infrastructure strengthening and development planning.
  • Manage servers and networks to support the database.
  • Provide user support and training.
  • Ensure all existing data on CSO is loaded into the database.
  • Develop online interface that enables new CSOs to submit information.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, IT or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years work related experience
  • Strong understanding of international public health program development.
  • Strong understanding of information system development processes, including requirements gathering, use case development, database and interface design, agile development methodologies, documentation and training.
  • Ability to use computer systems and effectively organize information on internal and external websites.
  • Substantial experience managing database design, development and support teams.
  • Substantial experience in working with information search/retrieval systems.
  • Experience with online (web-based) database systems preferred.
  • Experience with open source technologies and approaches preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to juggle many tasks at a time and ability to prioritize accurately and strategically.
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people and with a variety of people from different cultures.
  • Ability to listen to interests and negotiate with individuals or groups in order to accomplish program goals.
