Web Developer and Administrator Job Vacancy

A busy Engineering firm in Nairobi, Kenya is looking for applications for the post of “Web developer and Administrator”.

The firm has launched e-commerce applications that have drawn a cult appeal in its niche market and therefore, an experienced PHP professional is required to drive their online presence and maintain them thereafter.

Reporting to a senior Computer and Communications, Engineer, the applicant must be able to demonstrate a wider experience in:

• Commercial web-based e-commerce or m-commerce applications development targeting both PC and Mobile devices using the following technologies:
• PHP5, MySQL, Oracle, Javascript, XHTML, XML, CSS and AJAX
• Model View Controller Development Environment (Zend / Code Igniter/ Magenta)
• Object Oriented Programming
• Programming in Java (J2EE and JavaFX)
• Test driven development (Unit testing)
• Agile Development Technologies
• Exceptional problem solving capabilities
• Working knowledge of CMS development is a plus
• Additionally, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of
• Configuring UNIX/LINUX Systems. Experience with RHEL, CentOS and FreeBSD will be a plus.
• Using Apache Web server on UNIX/LINUX systems
• Shell scripting.

A university degree in Computer Science or closely related disciplines with at least 1.5 years experience in applications development is required.

Diploma holders with considerable work experience in applications development will also be considered.

Salary: KSh 35,000 (Net)
