Principal - KCA Kisumu

Reporting to: Office of the DVC – Academic Affairs

Purpose of the Job: To manage the campus in line with overall University strategic plan.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies for the campus
  • Develop a business plan for the campus focusing on recruitment and retention of students
  • Inculcate a culture of research at the campus
  • Prepare and manage annual budget for the campus
  • Oversee the day to day academic and administrative functions of the campus
  • Represent the campus in academic/non academic meetings
  • Prepare progress reports on academic and business performance of the campus
  • In consultation with HR at the Main campus, oversee the recruitment of full time and part time staff at the campus
  • In consultations with the procurement manager at the main campus, oversee the acquisition of goods and services at the campus
  • Oversee the management of facilities of the campus
  • Develop a risk management framework of the campus
  • Promote welfare activities for both students and staff
  • In consultations with the main campus, enter into various negotiations and agreements on behalf of the institution relating to financial, contractual and community affairs
  • In liaison with Min campus carry out fund raising activities for the campus
  • Mentor, train and develop staff
Job Requirements:
  • Masters Degree (PhD will be an added advantage)
  • 9 to 10 years experience with at least 4 years experience at a Senior supervisory level

Curriculum Development Specialist

Report To: Office of the DVC – Academic Affairs

Purpose of the Job: To oversee the Curriculum Development Function

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Set standards and regulations in the processes and procedures of curriculum development
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of new curriculum.
  • Coordinate the assessment of current curriculum to ensure that it is consistent with specific discipline
  • Monitor quality in terms of deliverables of specific discipline
  • Oversee that curriculum achieves expected outcome and accreditation requirements
  • Develop courses in the field of curriculum development
  • Train faculty in the processes of curriculum development
  • Develop and maintain research database that may be utilized to develop and review curriculum
  • Act as the University’s liaison for curriculum development and review by coordinating activities with faculty
Job Requirements:
  • Masters Degree in Curriculum development (PhD will be an added advantage)
  • 5 to 6 years experience in the field of curriculum development
  • Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design and development of curriculum
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lecture in relevant unit(s) and prepare students to acquire knowledge to work in the current and future environment;

  • Key in students’ examination scores into the exam module in the ERP;
  • Guide students in project writing which includes proposal preparation , final project writing, presentation through defense panels and finally to assess their work at the end of the writing;
  • Assess students of different levels in their attachment in the various industries within the country;
  • Participate in the moderation and verification procedures of examination within the university (quality of examinations set;
  • Develop the curriculum and identify consumer requirements
  • Conduct research and publication in area of specialization;
  • Provide academic counseling and tutorial support to students;
  • Prepare e-learning and distance learning materials that is useful for reaching a variety of students;
  • Monitor student attendance and performance;
  • Assist in the credit control process by using the system generation sheets and examination cards;

Enrolment Manager

Reporting to: Office of the DVC - AA

Purpose of the Job: Spearhead and implement the Student Recruitment Function

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement student recruitment plan
  • Spearhead market intelligence to inform recruitment initiatives
  • Develop and maintain partnership with potential clients
  • Formulation of recruitment strategies
  • Manage enquiries and other correspondence with regard to student recruitment
  • Establish and use student data base in formulation of recruitment strategies
  • Continuous evaluation of recruitment strategies
  • Set customer service standards and develop mechanisms to ensure excellent service delivery to potential clients at point of recruitment
  • Attain recruitment targets in conjunction with the Faculty heads
  • Train recruitment team on University products and recruitment strategies
  • Offer thought leadership in market strategy design and implementation
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing
  • 7 to 8 years relevant work experience with at least 3 years at supervisory level

Systems Administrator

Reporting to: Office of the DVC – FPA

Purpose of the Job: To support and improve on the use of Management Information System

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure existing ICT systems can be accessed by all users at all times
  • Ensure critical systems backup for business continuity
  • Ensure systems data integrity and clean up
  • Ensure security systems are in place
  • Provide user support
  • Prepare test data and test programs to eliminate errors in logic or coding, analyze and correct system performance problems during the test phase
  • Analyze user requirements in a data [processing environment
  • Manage systems development and implementation
  • Install , configure and maintain ICT systems
  • Conduct routine audit of ICT systems
  • Simplify user manuals
  • Generate systems reports such as log errors
  • Train users on ICT system s
  • Troubleshoot and isolate network faults
  • Maintain internal systems e.g. servicing servers
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in IT or Computer Science
