World Concern Development Organization, is a Relief and Development Organization, that  wishes to recruit qualified and competent persons for the following positions to be based in Dadaab.

1. Nutritionist – Contract (six months)

The overall objective of this position is to manage the health and nutrition responses in the HADA project and oversee the design, evaluation, and implementation of the health and nutrition programs.

This includes coordination with government officials, relevant bodies and NGOs; the design and management of mechanisms for nutritional and health surveillance; the preparation of relevant reports and information necessary to direct the program and report to donors.

Major Job Responsibilities:
  1. Coordination with government officials, relevant UN bodies and NGOs; the design and management of mechanisms for nutritional and health surveillance; the preparation of relevant reports and information necessary to direct the program and report to donors.
  2. Contribute technical expertise in line with international best relief practices in health and nutrition and actively promote capacity building of local and expat staff as well as partners where needed.
  3. Ensure effective monitoring and ongoing assessment of health and nutrition project progress and quality against stated objectives, budget and international health and nutrition standards. Provide health and nutrition technical inputs to internal and external reports and proposals before external submission.
  4. Responsible for the medical and nutritional content of assessments, reports and strategy recommendations including advising on the technical ability of World Concern or partners to respond with appropriate staffing and resources needed to meet international standards.
  5. Liaise as needed with other health and nutrition professionals to explore possible new programs, partnerships, handovers, funding or cooperative agreements and to avoid duplication of services in close communication with the Relief Coordinator. Represent World Concern at forums and external cross-sectoral events as requested. Liaise closely with World Concern Development Program’s Technical Support Unit where appropriate.
Qualification and Experience
  • 3 years health care program management and nutrition experience, preferably in a relief setting. Medical degree, Nursing degree and/or Masters of Public Health.
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate technical nutritional assessments using established and recognized anthropometric assessment methodologies.
  • Competence in the use of MS Office and Strong capacity building and facilitation skills, accompanied with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate technical nutritional assessments and health programs using established and recognized anthropometric assessment methodologies following international standards.
2. Disaster Response Monitoring Officer- Contract (six months)

Primary Job function

Line management and administrative support and work collaboratively with the Regional M&E Officer for M&E technical guidance and support.

He/she will spearhead monitoring activities in the field and will basically be responsible for output and process monitoring for the WC disaster response Program.

Major Job Responsibilities:
  • Data collection, entry, and compilation for the various WC disaster response projects in North eastern Kenya and South Somalia
  • Ensure that WC disaster projects’ data is of high quality, complete and reliable
  • Maintain/update the WC disaster project data base on a regular basis to ensure that quick summary reports of WC disaster response activities can be generated
  • Undertake field visits with project beneficiaries , partners, suppliers of goods & services(for the voucher system activities) to ensure that activity implementation is in line with WC and donors’ values and standards and ensure data collection tools are filled properly.
  • Support or spearhead carrying out of rapid assessments and or other surveys in the field
  • Compile and disseminate on a regular basis stories of transformation and lessons learned in the field to enhance program learning
  • Participate/contribute to the compilation of periodic donor or management reports
  • Training field based staff and partners on how to use various WC developed M&E tools
  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or regional M&E Officer.
Competencies and Skills required
  • Basic understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts and the purpose of M&E; project cycle and results chain (inputs-outputs-outcomes-impact) and concept of participatory monitoring
  • Good training capabilities
  • 2-5 years work experience with a relief and development organization.
  • Relevant university degree
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
  • Proficient in use of MS office especially MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is a requirement
  • Good understanding of both qualitative and quantitative data collection methodologies
  • Basic understanding of basic statistics e.g. mean, mode, range etc and how to generate simple tabular or graphic reports from an Excel database
  • Report writing skills
  • Keen on details and conscious of deadlines
  • Ability to speak Somali language or translate tools to Somali language is a MUST.
