As Head of Research you will play a central role in building our capacity to gather information, analyze data using SPSS , formulate and submit influential and high profile policy research for publication in international scientific journals.

Ujamaa-Africa works in five slums in Kenya. We empower women. We have been conducting a research for the last year, on Self Defense skills impact, after teaching young girls and women in the village. Which is why, we are rebuilding and expanding it to form a focused thematic team and bring in more senior level capacity.

We are creating a professional role at this level of our research for a strategic and a result driven professional who can lead our policy thinking in these areas, influence world leaders, and change futures for the world’s most vulnerable girls and women.

We are looking for somebody who can;
  • Spearhead, direct and oversee research in all UJAMAA research projects from research design to implementation, analysis and developments in all our initiatives.
  • Lead and deliver credible, influential and high profile policy research.
  • Contribute particularly to our No Means No department.
  • Forge new and innovative partnerships with all parties engaged in this research process.
  • Build a high performing research dept. team.
  • Co-authorize, supervise and review research findings.
  • Write briefs, research publications and articles written for a variety of audiences in order to advance the research process.
The individual should have;
  • A significant track record of applied research .
  • Demonstrable expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Should have applicable knowledge in Research software’s.
  • Finely honed strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of audiences
  • A sound understanding of our initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead and work in a complex organization across thematic, functional and distinct cultures.
  • The candidate must have strong interpersonal and collaborative skills working with researchers and practitioners.
  • The successful candidate must be organized, have the ability to multitask and handle timelines and priorities in a team environment.
  • Must be enthusiastic about working across disciplines and community sectors.
  • Should have a degree in any Research related field.
