Job Title: Project Coordinator
 
Department: Development
 
Reports To: Development Coordinator
 
Purpose: Under the guidance of the Diocesan Development Coordinator and direct supervision of the Deputy Development Coordinator the Project coordinator shall be responsible for programme administration, specifically for efficiency and continuity of all assigned Project activities.
 
Job Description
 
Catholic Diocese of Kitui (Caritas Kitui) in partnership with CAFOD has received approval for a Water Resource Management project in entire Diocese with a broad objective of strengthening the livelihoods of rural communities in the said region. 

Caritas Kitui invites applications from suitable, qualified and experienced person to fill the vacant position of Project Coordinator for the said programme.

Job Specification
  • Responsible for overall management of the issues related to project cycle.
  • Maintain close collaboration with all the other stakeholders including the government of Kenya, Line Ministries and other development agencies within the area.
  • Provide technical support in the implementation of project activities.
  • Participate in meetings and other official missions such as the District Development Committees and District Steering Groups among others as a representation of the Caritas Kitui.
  • Develop weekly updates and monthly and/or quarterly reports as stipulated in the letter of agreement between Caritas Kitui and the partners.
  • Develop proposals to the donors for funding based on the felt needs of the community
  • Facilitate participatory project identification, design of appropriate interventions (include assignment and monitoring of the relevant works norms) and oversee implementation and monitoring.
  • Capacity built the communities on identification, planning and implementation of the identified technologies according to training needs assessments.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.
  • Help develop databases to improve management of data from M&E systems across the organization
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or any other person designated by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Engineering or Soil and Water Conservation Engineering or Agricultural Engineering with a bias to water or natural resource conservation.
  • At least two years of prior professional experience in a water related position
  • Experience in overseeing contractors
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Being a strong team player and adept at creating a strong team spirit;
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently in the field;
  • Operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to travel and work in diverse conditions and under pressure;
  • Willingness to commit to Caritas Kitui vision and mission.
  • Must be a conversant with Catholic social teachings.

Caritas Kitui invites applications from suitable, qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant position of Project Coordinator for the said programme.

Qualifications and Experience
  • A Bsc Degree in Electrical Engineering or Appropriate Technology or Engineering with a bias to Solar Systems.
  • Experience in working with development projects funded by international organizations
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make sound judgments; critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Minimum 2 years field experience in Community based related programmes
  • Excellent communication skills including fluency in both English and Kiswahili a necessary, local language will be an added advantage.
  • Must have computer skill and riding skills with valid papers
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively demonstrate building positive attitudes and skills.
  • Ability and willingness to fulfil Caritas Kitui administrative and accounting procedures.
  • Willingness to commit to Caritas Kitui vision and mission.
  • Must be conversant with catholic social teachings.
