A large independent oil and gas exploration company with interests across many continents, is looking to recruit a HR Advisor and a Senior Cost Engineer for their Nairobi Office.

Senior Cost Engineer


The incumbent will report functionally to the Cost and Planning Manager – Cape Town and Project Controls Manager (Group) – London.

The Senior Cost Engineer will be expected to:
  • Provide responsive and reliable monthly Project Control Reports to meet target Cost Performance Indicators.
  • Assist the Cost and Planning Manager in preparation of the annual business plans and budgets pertaining major onshore oil/gas separation plants, pipelines and multi-well exploration.
  • Conduct reliable performance analysis and prepare status reports.
  • Maintain historical records and data against the trends and estimates.
  • Initiate the development and use of improved tools and methods for project cost administration and control.
  • Coordinate the operation of the company’s integrated project control systems and all other applications relevant to the Cost function.
  • Prepare and make presentations on current project control methods.
  • Operate and maintain detailed systems and written procedures that will satisfy the requirements of quality accreditation and periodic audits.
Qualifications: A degree in a relevant discipline with 10 years experience in cost engineering methodologies, cost control or cost estimating within upstream oil & gas with at least 2 years in a leadership role; project management; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

HR Advisor


The incumbent will report functionally to the HR Business Partner -Cape Town with operational interaction with Senior HR Advisor, Cape Town

The HR Advisor will be expected to:
  • Co-ordinate recruitment and selection processes.
  • Co-ordinate and plan training and development.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and company policy and procedures.
  • Administer, monitor and evaluate the provision of service benefits.
  • Manage staff mobility process for internal, external and staff transfers.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Kenya staff in employee relations, reward, recruitment and training.
  • Co-ordinate key HR activities such as salary surveys, performance bonuses, share options.
  • Provide guidance to line managers on employee relations issues and assist in reviewing and drafting employee documentation e.g. handbook and policies.
  • Contribute to the development of the intranet as an HR tool.
  • Produce MIS data and liaise with external HR services suppliers
Qualifications: HR-related degree/diploma with at least 5 years’ experience; strong customer service orientation in a customer-focused HR function; understands Kenyan employment law; good numerical and analytical skills; HRMIS knowledge; good oral and written communication skills.
