Position: Director, Information Communication and Technology

Reporting to: Managing Director

Supervises: Systems Application Manager, Database Administration Manager and Network Administration Manager

Broad Role: To plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities and operations of the ICT Directorate; administer the ICT budget, staff and give direction on technological advancements in all areas of business operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop Information Technology strategy in support of the company’s mission and core objectives
  • Direct, control and promote team work to motivate the staff in the Information Technology department
  • Develop and maintain strong and positive client relations
  • Develop annual business plan and operating budget for the department and set quarterly and annual targets
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the department’s performance to maintain focus on the set targets

  • Negotiate service level agreements with both internal and external customers and service providers and monitor service delivery to ensure the agreed targets and standards are met.
Education, Professional Qualifications and Work Experience
  • At least 10 years experience in the ICT field of which 5 years should be at Senior IT Management level
  • Broad knowledge in telecommunication access i.e. Cables- Fibre Optic, Transmission and Radio, and experience in use of terminal devices e.g. Telephone Handsets and Computers
  • Prove of formal training and knowledge in the field of wireless systems (e.g. GSM, Wifi and Wimax)
  • Experience of managing multiple IT disciplines i.e. Networking, Data communication, Programming, and software applications etc
  • Degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Telecommunication/ ICT
  • Holders of Msc in Information Systems or Computer Science will have a definite advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Go getter capable of providing generation compliant technical IT solutions to the company’s critical functions to boost efficiency, reliability, and timely delivery of service
  • Experience in drafting and working under performance contract
  • Experience in use and management of integrated information management system
  • Possession of skills in productivity improvement, project contracting and management
  • A proven track record of driving and defining complex IT strategy
  • Experience in budget planning and execution
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential in order to explain complex IT concepts to non technical colleagues
  • In depth experience of negotiating with and managing third parties
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
