Position Available: Finance Officer

Based in Nairobi, this position reports to the Finance and Administration Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure monthly payroll data is updated into the payroll correctly for review by the next officer.
  • Responsible for the administration of the Petty Cash Float for OSIEA Head office and to oversee those for Branch Offices as required from time to time.
  • Ensure all the transactions arising thereof are accurately recorded, summarised and posted to the General Ledger on a timely basis and reconciled monthly.
  • Process staff travel advances in cash when necessary. Reconcile the advance account on monthly basis and advice FAD where necessary.
  • Processing payments through bank transfers or by cheque and correctly recording entries in the General Ledger in compliance with OSIEA’s Financial Policies and Procedures.
  • Prepare monthly expense analysis reports for staff credit cards and ensure they are reconciled to the statements.
  • Reconciling supplier statements on a monthly basis
  • Ensuring that all payment documents are filed daily in an organised filing system from which they are easily accessible.
  • Contribute and support the finance and administration processes and ensure operational manuals are updated regularly when need be, in line with dynamic OSIEA’s ways of working
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Finance and Administration Director from time to time.
Qualifications
  • CPA II or equivalent
  • A first degree
  • Practical knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets and an accounting system.
  • Minimum three years relevant accounting experience, preferably in an international non-governmental organization or donor organization
  • Ability to work in a financially complex international organization
  • Ability to communicate patiently, clearly, and effectively with a diverse array of people
  • Team spirit and respectful working and decision-making style
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail
  • Integrity, diplomatic manner and professional discretion essential
