Deputy Director (Clinical Services)

Job objective

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the overall responsibility of the Deputy Director, Clinical Services will be to provide strategic leadership that will ensure delivery of specialized quality health care services to all clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, coordination and direction in the divisions within the directorate.
  • Develop intervention programmes and activities for the effective delivery and improvement of health care services.
  • Formulate, review and implement ethics policy standards governing medical practice within the Hospital.
  • Mobilize and manage resources for optimum clinical output.
  • Provide professional development of clinical staff to ensure high standards of health care.
  • Coordinate clinical research and quality assurance activities in the Hospital.
  • Participate in the formulation of national policies and plans for the overall development of health services in the country.

Qualifications and work experience

  • Master’s and undergraduate degrees duly recognized by the Medical Practitioners & Dentist Board (Kenya)
  • At least one (1) sub-specialization in the Medical field.
  • Evidence of research and at least three (3) professional publications in reputable local or international journals on particular scientific findings/practices in the field.
  • Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • At least five (5) years progressive experience as a Senior Medical Specialist and above in a large medical institution.
  • Must have current practicing license by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board (K).
  • Proven ability to function as part of a Senior Management team and to work successfully with other professionals in the management of health care services.
  • Demonstrated skills in strategic analysis and planning of clinical services.
  • Proven ability to lead change management in a complex health care environment.
  • Experience with and commitment to clinical ethics and best practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial management and experience in managing budgets.
  • Excellent understanding of public service regulations and national laws in health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relations.

Deputy Director (Finance and Administration)

Job objective 



Reporting to Chief Executive officer, the Deputy Director, Finance and Administration will be responsible for the development and implementation of sound policies within the directorate that will ensure the support arm of the Hospital has the required strength and resources needed to realize its mission and objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Overseeing and ensuring effective performance of the Administration Department (Human Resource, Finance, Supplies chain, and Technical and Corporate support services).
  • Initiating and participating in policy formulation for the Hospital.
  • Ensuring cost-effective utilization of human, financial and other resources.
  • Spearheading strategic planning in the Hospital.
  • Planning and coordinating reform initiatives for improvement and development of the Hospital.
  • Ensuring the success of performance management initiatives in the Hospital.
  • Providing advisory services on general management and administrative matters.
  • Fostering and nurturing principles and practices geared towards good corporate governance.
  • Overseeing and ensuring effective supervision of development projects and programmes in the Hospital.
  • Developing and fostering partnership with the public and private sector organizations.
  • Identifying and ensuring implementation of activities for the promotion of sound corporate social responsibility.
  • Spearheading culture change to improve the Hospital image.
  • Promoting the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety initiatives.

Qualifications and work experience

The candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or equivalent from a recognized University.
  • Must have an under graduate qualification in a Business related field from a recognized University.
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA (K), ACCA or CPS (K) will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of a professional body or bodies
  • Must have at least 10 years progressive experience in senior management positions.

Resource Mobilization Manager

Job Objective

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director, Special Programmes, and the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the Hospitals resource mobilization programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing local and international resource mobilization strategies.
  • Identifying a funding base and fundraising partners and writing funding proposals.
  • Building and sustaining a sound relationship with Government agencies, donors and potential partners.
  • Facilitating resource mobilization programmes within the Hospital.
  • Sensitizing the hospital stakeholders on resources mobilization activities.

Qualification and work experience

  • Holder of a degree in either Business Administration or Communication with specialization in marketing and/or fundraising from a recognized University.
  • Master’s degree in Communication or Business Administration from a recognized University.
  • Proven work experience of not less than five years in fundraising and/or marketing in a large multi-sector organization.
  • A good portfolio of both local and international fundraising contacts and associates will be an added advantage.

Head, Risk and Audit

Job Objective


Reporting to the Risk and Audit Committee of the Board of Management and functionally to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in providing innovative risk, audit, assurance and consulting services that add value and continually improve the hospitals operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote efficient and high audit standards at the hospital.
  • Formulation of audit management policies, procedures, regulations and auditing systems.
  • Evaluate changing services, processes and operations and putting in required internal controls.
  • Issue periodic reports to the audit committee and facilitate preparation of routine audit reports.
  • Monitor emerging trends and successful practices in internal auditing;
  • Develop efficient internal controls and risk management strategies in the hospital.

Qualification and work experience

  • Must have a Master’s degree in Business administration or other relevant field from a recognized University.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Commerce or related business degree from a recognized University.
  • Must have CPA (K ) and be an active member of ICPAK .
  • 8 years’ progressive experience in Auditing, 4 of which must be in a senior position.
  • CISA and CIA qualification will be a definite advantage.

Quality Assurance Manager

Job Objective

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director, Finance and Supply Chain Management, the successful candidate will be expected to develop, update and maintain Hospital quality assurance policies and programmes to facilitate delivery of high quality health care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Institute plans and programmes geared towards provision of high standards of quality health care service.
  • Formulate quality assurance policies and procedures for the Hospital.
  • Set quality assurance compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved.
  • Prepare reports on quality related matters and disseminate information.
  • Coordinate Quality Management Systems activities in line with ISO 9001:2008 Standards.
  • Participate in research related to quality assurance.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Master’s degree in Management Sciences, Organizational Development or equivalent from a recognized University.
  • Must have an undergraduate degree in Management Science or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Professional qualification in Quality Management System.
  • Progressive Work experience of at least five (5) years in a managerial position in a large organization.
  • At least 3 year experience as a Lead Auditor of Quality Management System.

Corporation Secretary

Job Objective

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be expected to provide legal advice to the hospital and provide secretarial service to the Board of Management.

Key responsibilities

  • To ensure timely and efficient management of disputes and cases.
  • To ensure the Hospital’s compliance with relevant statutory provisions.
  • Provision of legal advice on all matters including medicolegal issues and supply contracts.
  • Custody of all legal documents and the Hospital seals.
  • Institution of court action to recover Hospital debts.
  • Act on legal cases instituted by or against the Hospital.
  • Spearheading culture change to improve the Hospital image.
  • Promoting the Hospital Occupational Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Facilitate preparation of board reports and provide secretarial services to the Board of Management.

Qualifications and Work experience

  • A Master’s degree in Law from a recognized University.
  • Undergraduate degree in law from a recognized university and post graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law
  • Must have five years progressive experience in a busy organization at the senior level Management.
  • Registration by the Law Society of Kenya;
  • Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court;
  • Attended a management/leadership training lasting not less than month;

Hospital Engineer

Job Objective

To provide effective and efficient maintenance of hospital equipment and supervision of projects at the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop long term strategy, business plans and operating budgets.
  • Establish internal monitoring and control systems and procedures to support quality Engineering services.
  • Formulate designs and installations.
  • Ensure timely repair and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment in the Hospital.
  • Formulate policy on procurement of spare parts to ensure efficiency of equipment and general administration of the maintenance services in the Hospital.
  • Supervise and maintain all civil works on roads, parkings and drainage system.

Qualification and work experience

  • Served in the grade of Superintending Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Mechatronics) or a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service OR equivalent position in a large engineering organization for at least three (3) years.
  • Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Civil Engineering/Mechantronics Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.
  • Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

This position is on a three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Medical Specialist II

The Hospital requires Specialists in Anesthesia (2), Orthopaedic surgery (1) and Internal Medicine (1)

Job Objective

To contribute to the patient satisfaction through provision of specialized quality health care services in their area of specialty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking full responsibility of patients under their care in their various specialties’.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of efficient and high quality medical care to patients.
  • Review of all patients under their care.
  • Conducting critical care and general ward rounds when covering the weekends and public holidays.
  • Respond to consultations from other clinical specialties.
  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment and other supplies in the department.
  • Participate in clinical research and teaching.
  • Ensure effective supervision, training and development of staff.
  • Participating in other general Hospital activities when and as required.

Qualifications and work experience

  • Master’s Degree in respective specialties from a recognized university.
  • Registration Certificate and current Practicing License from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists’ Board (Kenya).
  • A minimum of one year post registration experience as a specialist in a busy hospital.

This position is on permanent and pensionable terms.

Clerk of Works

Job Objective

The Clerk of Works is responsible to ensure that the project for development of serviced apartments for the Hospitals staff superannuation scheme is carried out to the client’s standards, specifications and schedules.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain the required standards by ensuring that the correct (specified) materials are used and that good workmanship is achieved to give value for client’s money.
  • Ensure the correct specifications by taking measurements, inspecting samples and catalogues and comparing to contract document specifications.
  • Monitor construction activities against a progress chart (Approved Works Program) and reporting on timelines of the activities.
  • Maintain a diary of all activities at the site.

Qualification and work experience

  • Diploma in Building or civil engineering from a recognized Institution.
  • Five years’ experience in handing large projects.
  • Those with Higher diploma will have an added advantage.

This position is on two year contract renewable subject to completion of the project.
