Brand Kenya Board (BKB) is a state corporation established through Legal Notice number 38 of 2008 under the State Corporation Act (Cap. 446). 

The rationale behind the establishment of the Board was the Government commitment to put in place an integrated coordinated mechanism for building and enhancing the Country's image, national identity and rallying its citizens behind it.

The Board's Mandate is to manage the country's image by ensuring that a Kenya Brand is created, harnessed and sustained as a platform for communicating the Country's competitive advantage both internally and externally.

The Board seeks to strengthen its management team by hiring valued talent to fill the following positions:

PR and Communications Officer 

Ref: BKB/HR/PRO/03/2012-2013

Reporting to the Director Strategic Communications, the PR & Communication Officer will play a supporting role in the day to day operations and execution of the Communication department's strategy to enable the department deliver on set objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director Strategic Communication to implement communication and Public engagement strategies in line with BKB's mandate,
  • Liaise with agencies to ensure communication projects are executed in a timely and efficient manner,
  • Develop proposals to the Director Communication that will communicate Brand Kenya Board's initiatives and objectives,
  • Liaise with news media organizations for collaboration in communicating Brand Kenya Board's initiatives,
  • Daily media monitoring and reporting
  • Content development and monitoring of social media - twitter, facebook
  • Prepare news releases and news features for internal and external publications
  • Prepare write ups for annual reports and country information booklets/brochures
  • Content development for the Board's website
  • Development of presentations and drafting speeches
  • Assist in preparation of pre production material for development of video documentaries, infomercials,
  • Development and maintenance of a Brand Kenya Board Photo library
  • Assist in preparation and management of BKB's participation in Trade fairs and exhibitions
  • Liaison with third party suppliers
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned
  • Assist in development of communication and media strategies in the Board
Position requirements:
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication or Public Relations or equivalent,
  • At least three (3) years experience in a busy Organization's Corporate/Communication department. 
  • Member of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) or relevant professional body.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism or related field is an added advantage.
Key competencies:
  • Experience in Media relations and management
  • Ability to express self, clearly articulate issues and multi-task
  • Knowledge of creative design and print production processes
  • Excellent writing and editing skills - English and Kiswahili
  • Working knowledge of photography, video and radio production
  • A working knowledge of Power point, MS word excel 
  • Self driven, result oriented and a team player
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and to ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters
2. ICT Officer

Ref:
BKB/HR/ICTO/04/2012-2013

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the ICT Officer will head the ICT Department and will organize the ICT function, systems and projects to optimize organizational efficiency and outputs to deliver on set objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and implement the ICT policies, standards and procedures in line with Board objectives;
  • Plan and manage the acquisition, upgrading, repair and/or replacement and maintenance of computer systems, electronic equipment and peripherals
  • Initiate, plan, manage specific computerization projects and technological innovations
  • Prepare technical specifications to be used in the procurement of computer products and services;
  • Develop and implement procedures for disaster management plan to ensure high level systems resilience and security;
  • Ensure that inventory of all computing equipment, software and hardware ICT documentation are properly maintained
  • Management of the website. Internet and Local Area Network.
Position requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or the equivalent,
  • Be  a  fully  qualified  with  A+  and  N+  Knowledge, 
  • Conversant with LAN, and WAN/VSAT systems CCNA,
  • At least three (3) years relevant experience in information technology systems,
  • Membership to a professional body.
Key competencies:
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills. 
  • Agile and up to date on current ICT trends. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and to ensure absolute discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters. 
  •  A working knowledge of computer operations and systems.
