Exciting Position

Nurse for a Social Enterprise
We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated nurse to help us market Ruby Cup, and to educate girls and women in low income areas about female hygiene and the usage of Ruby Cup.

About Ruby Cup:

Ruby Cup by Makit Ltd. is a healthy, high quality and long-lasting menstrual hygiene product made of 100% FDA approved medical grade silicone that can be re-used for up to 10 years.

Benefits:
  • Healthy: Non-allergenic, non-toxic, maintains the natural balance of the vagina
  • Safe: No leakages, can be worn up to 12 hours
  • Economical: One-time investment
  • Environmentally-Friendly: Re-usable for up to 10 years
Our Social Mission:

In Kenya, menstruation is an overlooked problem. Many women and girls cannot afford sanitary products every month, and as a result they stay home from school or are hindered in work. It’s a barrier to their life opportunities. Ruby Cup is a solution to this problem.

We sell Ruby Cup through local female vendors. We educate them in the usage of the product, reproductive health and menstrual hygiene. This way, we create employment for women, provide a sustainable solution to women and girls in poverty, and we increase peer-to-peer education in the local communities. To support this mission, we also sell Ruby Cup online to western markets for a higher price.

Ruby Cup is the winner of The Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition 2012 (US), Venture Cup 2012 (Denmark), Finalist in Ben & Jerry's Join Our Core 2012 (EU), and 2nd  prize recipient of the Future Impact Award 2012. (Switzerland)
