Head of Procurement
Our
client, a leader in the sugar and related products in Kenya, wishes to revamp
its management strength through hiring of the Head of Procurement, who is
expected to establish procedures for efficient and effective procurement and
disposal of unserviceable, obsolete or surplus stores, assets and equipment.
Reporting
to the Managing Director, the Head of Procurement’s Role will include:
- Work
with departmental heads to Review/Formulate and implement effective
procurement policies, plans and procedure to eliminate wastage and spur
profitability in the company;
- Review/formulate
a Monitoring and Evaluation mechanism to ensure effective implementation
of the corporate strategic plan and achievement of the corporate
performance targets
- Ensure
effective communication between User Departments and the Finance
Department to ensure effective procurement;
- Manage
good relations with external stakeholders in order to build a strong but
friendly corporate image as far as public procurement affairs is
concerned.
- Be
the principal advisor to the management on procurement issues.
The
Person Required must have:
- Good
understanding of Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005 and Regulations
2006 and a professional qualification on Supply Chain Management or
its equivalent from a reputable institution;
- Notable
success in planning and management of large and critical supply chain
through team leadership;
- Ability
to think and act strategically while managing a diverse group of managers
and people;
- Strong
influential and executive leadership style, articulate and confident
personality able to instil public confidence in dealing with the company;
- Excellent
communication, writing, documentation and interpersonal skills.
