Position Title: Settlement Manager

Location: Yei – South Sudan

Duration: 10 Months (based on performance)

Duties and Responsibilities

ACROSS is looking for a suitably qualified candidate for the position of a Settlement Manager. 

While working to transform lives and communities in South Sudan, the incumbent, under the general supervision of the Programme Coordinator in Juba will manage, implement and monitor the planned activities and project resources to assist refugees and host communities to receive protection, care, maintenance and material assistance in the Lasu Refugee Settlement of Yei, Central Equatoria State of South Sudan and exercise judgment over the project implementation. 

More specifically, to:

Duties:

  • Management of multi- sector activities in the settlement relating to refugees and ensure the delivery of a well managed efficient and cost effective programme implementation
  • Enhance high level communication and representation of ACROSS to the partners, UN agencies, Government officials, refugees and host communities and endeavour to built strong program relationships
  • Provide sound leadership in the settlement, coordination and management support for the planning, budgeting, and implementation of the programmes
  • Initiate sector proposal developments with other professional staff, undertake their consolidation prior to submission
  • Ensure the integration of global cross-cutting issues, such as gender into the program design and devise strategies for increased implementation
  • Assist the Program Coordinator to oversee program staffing matters, control measures and resources (finances and assets) are used in the best way and in line with budgetary and donor requirements
  • Promote a learning culture, and staff development in the program through capacity building and delegating appropriately
  • Organise and facilitate external and internal communication forums as staff meetings, coordination dialogues with other partners and stakeholders for the program and sharing of experiences
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner and devise strategies with other project staff for increased delivery of project outputs
  • Organise weekly, monthly or periodic meetings with stakeholders and other organizations as needed and Prepare project periodic reports, and monthly work-plans
  • May be required to carry out specific administrative operations and other related duties by management

Qualifications – Essential

Applications shall not be considered from candidates who do not possess ALL the Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or relevant discipline and further training in management
  • 5 years of progressive responsible programme, of which at least 3 year closely related to implementing camp management activities or community settlements
  • Experience in planning and implementation of emergency operations and technical interventions to communities will be an added advantage
  • Ability to utilize other professionals and tap from varied multi- disciplinary knowledge areas to achieve results
  • Knowledge on carrying out assessments, data analysis, report and proposal writing
  • Fluent in English (written & spoken) and excellent in MS applications, Power point, Excel and Word
