The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the post of Senior Programme Assistant (Reports) in support of the Regional Bureau for East & Central Africa (OMN), based in Nairobi, Kenya.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:  
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Programme Advisor, the Senior Programme Assistant (Reports) will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Assist with coordination, tracking and ensuring Country Offices timely submission of monthly sitreps, briefs and key statistical information.
  • Assist with consolidation, review and editing of inputs from COs for Executive Briefs.
  • As part of the OMN team, assist with coordination and review of inputs for SPRs and periodical WFP reports.
  • Assist in the preparation, writing and editing of reports as required by the RB and HQ.
  • As required, assist with monitoring and reviewing regular sources of information and data required for preparation of reports, e.g., information from NGOs, news clippings, surveys, and information from field monitors food statistics reports.
  • Provide support and clarification on reporting policies and other related issues to Country Offices.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  • to supervise and train support staff and to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. 
  • Extensive and in-depth practical knowledge of a specialized area;
  • ability to plan and organize work.
Qualifications and Experience
 
Education: Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in human resources, public administration, transport, development economics or other related field.
 
Experience: At least six years of progressively responsible experience of which at least one year closely related to operations, food aid related work or other related field. At least one year at the G6 level or equivalent.
 
Knowledge: Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
 
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English essential.
 
Other desirable skills: Knowledge of relevant WFP specified software; knowledge of WFP financial regulations; and rules and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work; proficiency in a second official WFP language
