The Girl Child Network (GCN) is an independent, non political, non religious, not for profit membership organization working to improve the status of children in Kenya with special emphasis on the girl child.
 
Within the Education program, we are implementing a DfID funded project kwon as ‘Wasichana Wote Wasome’(WWW) that aims to improve school enrolment, retention, attendance and learning outcomes for marginalized girls in Kenya. 


WWW project will be implemented in Tana River, Kwale and Kilifi Counties. 

We invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join our dynamic education team in the following positions:

Project Coordinator 

(One position, based in Nairobi with regular field visits)

Reporting to Education advisor, the project coordinator will oversee the implementation of the WWW education project in the three Counties; participate in development and operationalization of monitoring, evaluation and other project documentation and reporting tools and ensure timely implementation and reporting of project activities. 

S/He will be responsible for Networking with relevant stakeholders in Government, Civil Society Organizations and communities to enhance girls’ participation in education in the three target counties.
 

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelors degree in Education or Social studies, be computer literate and have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in similar position. 

A Masters degree will be an added advantage. 

S/he should have strong knowledge of education issues at national level, good communication and mobilization, documentation and report writing skills.

Project Accountant 

(One position, based in Nairobi)

Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager, the project accountant will facilitate financial operations of project activities in Tana River, Kwale and Kilifi Counties. 

S/He will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing of working advances, preparation of project returns and financial reports, reconciliations and balancing accounts as well as posting and compiling monthly financial reports to show records related to financial operations in the field offices.
 
Certified Public Accountant (CPA K ) or Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience in reputable organizations; experience working with a Non-Governmental Organizations and good knowledge of financial reporting systems in donor funded work will be an added advantage. 

Excellent computer skills with hands on experience on computerized accounting systems will be necessary for the job.

Project Officers 

(Three positions, based in Tana River, Kilifi and Kwale)

Reporting to the Project coordinator, the field officers will be responsible for formation and strengthening of school and community initiatives to support girls’ access, enrolment, retention and participation in education in specific counties.

The successful candidate should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in Education, Social studies or any relevant studies. 

Must be computer literate and have a minimum of three years’ experience in similar position. 

S/he should have strong knowledge of the different dynamics in communities, good mobilization, documentation and report writing skills.

Project Assistants 

(Two Positions based in Tana River and Kilifi only)

Reporting to the project officer, the project assistants will support the project officers in implementation of their duties with specific roles in community based initiatives to support girls’ education in the specific counties.
 
The successful candidate should possess a Bachelors degree or equivalent certification in Education, Social studies or any relevant studies, be computer literate and have a minimum of two years’ experience in similar position. 

S/he should have strong knowledge of community dynamics and language, good mobilization, documentation and report writing skills.

Field Logistic Officer

(Three positions, based in Tana River, Kilifi and Kwale)

S/he will be expected to facilitate operations at the respective field offices. 

S/he will be responsible for financial, operations, administration and transport duties at the respective field offices.
 
The successful candidate should possess a Certified Public Accountant II (CPA II) certificate with a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience in reputable organization/s. 

Experience working with a non-governmental organization, knowledge of financial reporting systems in donor funded work will be an added advantage. 

S/he should have excellent computer skills with hands on experience on computerized accounting systems.
