Job Summary
 
The Leadership, Management and Sustainability (LMS) Program is working in Kenya to strengthen leadership and management in the Kenyan health sector. 

The Project Officer, Training will report to the Senior Technical Advisor and will be responsible for providing technical guidance and coordination to build capacity of selected health training institutions to deliver Leadership and Management training for the health sector. 

S/he will ensure that training programs in these institutions are in concurrence with Kenya’s policy on curriculum development and are relevant to health sector priorities.

In-addition, the Project Officer, Training will work with the regulatory bodies to ensure that the in-service leadership and management programs offered through the support of LMS/Kenya Program are accredited and integrated in core curriculums.

S/he will also work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation technical advisor in assessing the outcome/impact of leadership and management courses.

Key duties and responsibilities;
  • Coordinate and manage the Leadership and Management curriculum integration activities
  • Coordinate technical assistance to ensure quality delivery of the leadership and management trainings
  • Ensure training programs are implemented as part of coherent scale-up strategy and programs are designed and planned in a systematic way, respecting the needs and key stakeholders and considering resources available.
  • Coordinate work with regulatory bodies to ensure that the LMS/Kenya in-service courses offered to the health sector are accredited and awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Credits.
  • Organize engagement meetings with the LMS/Kenya selected health training institutions and manage collaborations and partnerships.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and training institutions for training strategy development, curriculum development, materials development, planning, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation.
  • Ensure facilitators are appropriately trained and continually updating their knowledge and skills in Leadership and Management
Qualifications and experience required:
 
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of bachelor degree in education, social sciences, public administration, management or public health with at least five (5) years of relevant working. 

Curriculum development experience is required. 
 
S/he should have proven programmatic, technical and managerial ability, demonstrable experience in working with multiple stakeholders in a multi-faceted program. 

Experience working with a USAID funded program is highly desirable. 

Computer proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and presentation programs (Microsoft applications preferred).

The successful candidate needs to be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal, facilitation, relationship-building, negotiating and influencing skills. 

S/he should work with minimal supervision under tight timelines, able to travel within Kenya and be able to support cross technical teams.
