Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD) believes that people with disabilities should have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose, with the opportunity and support to live independently, to contribute economically, and to participate fully in society. It works to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and campaigns for the removal of barriers that hinder them.
 
LCD works internationally in over 50 countries throughout Africa and Asia, supporting thousands of people through programmes that focus on inclusive education, livelihoods, advocacy and campaigning, and care and support.
 
Leonard Cheshire Disability will be implementing a 27 month project in the Lake Region in Kenya supported by the UK Government funded Girls Education Challenge which will address physical and social barriers to education and ensure that 3,086 disabled girls in 50 primary schools in Nyanza receive a full, quality and inclusive primary education. 

We are looking to fill a number of staff positions at the project office based in Kisumu and in the operational locations of Siaya, Kisumu East, Mbita, Migori and Kuria East. 

Finance and Admin Assistant 
 
1 position 

based in Kisumu

The Finance and Admin Assistant will be responsible for all accounting activities of the project which includes the development and maintenance of the project accounting system, preparation of financial expenditure reports, annual budgeting and financial monitoring, and monthly reviews of the account balances in accordance with the GEC grant holder’s manual. 

They will also develop and maintain office procedures and systems to ensure the efficient operation of the project office, maintain all statutory records at the project office and support project office staff to document and maintain project records.

Project Officers 

3 posts 

based in Kisumu

The Project Officers will provide admin and programme support for the implementation of the project. 

They will assist in developing and maintaining project deliverables under the direction of the Inclusive Education Manager, play an active role in developing, maintaining and updating monthly, quarterly and annual project activities timelines, coordinate medical and educational assessments of children with disabilities and facilitate their enrolment in school, ensure the involvement of families and communities in project implementation, support the implementation of community awareness raising events and community based training workshop, gather and report on data against the project indicators, particularly those in the logframe and assist in a variety of administrative duties including disseminating project information to stakeholders and arranging logistics for meetings, training workshops and other project related events.
 
Community Support Workers

3 per location based in Siaya, Kisumu East, Mbita, Migori and Kuria East

The Community Support Workers (CSW) will serve as project representatives at the community level and deliver designated activities. 

The CSWs will assist the Project Officers in planning, coordinating and implementing community activities within the project location, prepare and submit monthly reports to project officers, ensure compliance with LCD’s child protection policy and procedures and report any concerns to the relevant individuals and authorities, create health and education support plans for children with disabilities and their parents/caregivers and support them to attend all medical and educational appointments including assessments. 

They will also be responsible to support and encourage parents of children with disabilities to participate in project activities that address the welfare of their children.

Office Driver 

2 Posts 

Based in Kisumu

The Office Driver will drive the project vehicle and be responsible for its maintenance and upkeep. 

They will also ensure that the vehicle records are up to date and are submitted to the line manager monthly, support the administration of the office with collection and delivery of packages, photocopying and filing as required, whenever not engaged in driving or vehicle maintenance.
