Our client is a milk processor dealing in the production of fresh milk, yoghurt and curd milk and is seeking to recruit a proactive, self-driven and versatile individual for the position of General Managerwho will be reporting to the Board of Directors.
 
Further details concerning the role are as follows:
 
Job Purpose / Summary: The General Manager, he or she will also be responsible for managing the business strategy, developing new business opportunities, managing client relationships and oversee the implementation of the Board’s decisions. 

The job holder will provide recommendations to the company concerning strategies that will deliver sustainable and profitable business growth.
 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing of the company’s strategic plan and recommend review where necessary depending with the business environment and market dynamics.
  • Overseeing all departmental functions, business operations and processes.
  • Developing, monitoring and evaluating the mechanism to ensure implementation of the company’s strategic plan and achievement of the company’s performances targets in terms of profitability, cost management and market share.
  • Coordinating preparation of organizations’ annual budget for approval by the board and following through to ensure targets and budgets are met as per agreed business deliverables.
  • Monitoring the organization’s budget by reviewing management accounts and ensuring they conform to the budgetary provisions.
  • Review and approval of contracts with outside vendors and performance contracts.
  • Authorizing transactions and actions in accordance with the set authorization limits.
  • Leading in the formulation and implementation of procedures and policies related to the organization.
  • Determining and coordinating the company’s reporting and communication requirements and review the financial and operational reports.
  • Identifying, implementing and benchmarking for best practices and standards in business management.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Law and any other regulatory requirements.
  • Developing and facilitating capacity building of staff to achieve optimal performance and motivational levels.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and updating strategy plans with senior management.
  • Managing key external stakeholders and business relationships that relate to company’s strategy and growth.
  • Researching and analysing new business opportunities and managing the development of these opportunities with stakeholders while keeping abreast with the market trends.
  • Oversee sales, delivery, distribution, pricing, accounting and customer service.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the organization, overseeing that work is accomplished by the managers and supervisors, and that it is consistent with corporate policies and objectives.
  • Ensure that the inventory management is consistent with the short and long term sales, cash flow and financial goals.
  • Takes co- responsibility for strategic direction of the overall business, including all operational components of Finance, HR, Production, Sales/Marketing, Engineering and Quality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Management, Commerce or any other related field.
  • An MBA will be an added advantage.
  • 5-6 years’ experience in a senior management role in the FMCG industry.
  • Outstanding people management, business development and client relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrate experience in Finance, Human Resource and Marketing.
  • Result oriented and a high performer with an entrepreneurial mind set.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and human relations.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive business development teams.
  • High level of integrity.
