RESTECH seeks to recruit competent individuals for the positions of: Accountant and Human Resource Officer

Accountant

About the Position

The position of Accountant is to be based in Kisumu, Kenya. The purpose of this position is to support RESTECH in managing and reporting on its finances while reporting directly to the Executive Director.

 Duties and responsibilities
  • Administer, monitor and keep clear records of all RESTECH accounts
  • Monitor incomes and expenses and produce relevant financial reports
  • Produce monthly financial reports for each project/programme
  • Provide support in the preparation of budgets and financial reports
  • Follow up payments for consultancy/expert contracts
  • Maintain RESTECH assets in good condition, including their records
  • Liaise with procurement and finance offices for timely purchase of goods and services
  • Monitor RESTECH’s expenses for internal tracking
  • Handle all financial aspects related to organisation and execution of meetings, workshops and conferences
  • Manage RESTECH’s petty cash kitty
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all bank, petty cash and advances returns
  • Ensure proper filing and archiving of RESTECH’s financial documents, including contracts with donors, minutes of meetings with donors
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
 Requirements
  • Bachelors in Commerce and CPA (K) or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years relevant working experience in accounting in a NGO
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting software required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Good personal organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly effective multi-tasking skills, with ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines.
Human Resource Officer
About the Position


The position of Human Resource Officer is to be based in Kisumu, Kenya. 

The purpose of this position is to ensure smooth, efficient and effective day-to-day human resource administration in line with RESTECH’S Human Resource Management and policy guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake duties supporting the recruitment and selection function and any other associated duties
  • Undertake duties supporting the use of HR Information System including sending out relevant contractual information; liaising with payroll to resolve queries; processing any other payments
  • Undertake administrative duties supporting various HR processes including maternity and paternity leave and other forms of special leave; job evaluation panels; probation procedure; other terms and conditions of employment
  • Undertake duties supporting the organization’s learning and development culture including the collation of learning needs from individuals’ appraisals and the collation of information relating to the evaluation of training
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director team including word processing; distribution of information; organizing and taking minutes at meetings
  • Ensure proper close-out, handover and exit procedures for outgoing staff
  • Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Requirements
  • Degree in Human Resource Management
  • Three years HR/Admin experience with an NGO
  • Substantial knowledge of Kenyan employment law/labor laws and immigration procedures
  • In-depth understanding of HR ethics, including professionalism and confidentiality
  • Flexibility and the ability to multi-task, with a willingness to assume a range of unanticipated assignments
  • Excellent IT skills, including experience with MS Word and Excel
