CUE Legal Officer Job in Kenya (KShs 54K - 77K)

The Commission for University Education is a State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament, Universities Act 2012, to provide for development of university education; the establishment, accreditation and governance of universities in Kenya.

In order to strengthen its human resource capacity, the Commission invites applications from candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Legal Officer I

CUE 9

An officer at this level report to Chief Legal Officer
 

Key Responsibilities

• draft local agreements and contractual documents; 
• advise Commission or, Commission agents on the interpretation on legal matters; 
• articulate CUE position in meetings, seminars, negotiations, conventions; 
• collect, verify and submit Wealth Declaration Forms of staff in public Universities and the Commission undertake research on assigned legal issues; 
• Collect and collating research data; and interviewing customers for proper guidance.

Requirements

• For appointment to this grade, an Officer must have:- a Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized institution with at least three (3) years working experience in a legal related field;
• Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Council for Legal Education; 
• been admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya; 
• a current practicing certificate and or exemption certificate from the Government or relevant statutory body; 
• served in the grade of Legal Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in a public or private sector organization for at least three (3) years; 
• proficiency in computer applications; and 
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Salary: CUE 9 - Ksh.54,600 - 77,352 pm
