The Commission for University Education is a State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament, Universities Act 2012, to provide for development of university education; the establishment, accreditation and governance of universities in Kenya.

In order to strengthen its human resource capacity, the Commission invites applications from candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Assistant Commission Secretary, Research 
Grade CUE 11
1 Post
 
An Officer at this level will be responsible to the Senior Assistant Commission Secretary, Research for the management and coordination of research activities.
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • coordinate, monitoring and evaluation of research projects; 
  • undertake critical evaluation of research proposals; 
  • prioritize research projects and funding; 
  • ensure implementation of research findings; 
  • coordinate publication and dissemination of research findings; 
  • coordinate the development of research proposal; 
  • manage stakeholder workshops; 
  • coordinate evaluation of research projects and papers by external peer reviewers; 
  • evaluate and review research proposals and methodologies; 
  • identify projects and writing concept papers to justify need for research; 
  • edit and refine research reports and papers for presentation to stakeholder workshops; 
  • coordinate evaluation of projects and papers by external peer reviewers; 
  • evaluate CVs of Peer Reviewers and Researchers for commissioning; 
  • Coordinate publication and dissemination of research findings.
Qualifications 
  • A Master’s Degree in Education; Economics, Statistics, Planning with at least six (6) years’ experience or any other relevant and equivalent discipline from a recognized institution; 
  • Served in the grade of Chief Research Officer for at least three (3) years or in a comparable and relevant position in a public or private sector organization for at least years; 
  • Proficiency in Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and any other relevant statistical package; 
  • Demonstrated a thorough understanding of national goals, policies and development objectives and ability to align them to CUE policies and program;
  • Proposal writing skills; and Research and 
  • Report writing skills.
Salary: CUE 11 - Ksh. 103,659 - 157,388 pm
