Announcement of Scholarships 

2014 / 2015 Academic Year
 
The University Strategic Plan (2008 – 2018) recognizes expansion of access to higher education as a requisite strategy to effective development of national human capital. 

Pursuant to the University Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and expanding access to higher education, the University has Scholarship and Students Discretionary Tuition Waiver Schemes.
 
The Scholarship and Students Discretionary Tuition Waiver Schemes aim at enhancing realization of the University Strategic Objectives on expanding access to higher education and support Mount Kenya University (MKU) students’ educational academic aspirations.
 
1. Scholarships
 

(a) Eligibility
 
(i) Applicant must have applied to join Mount Kenya University
 
(ii) Applicant must have qualified to undertake Mount Kenya University Bachelors Degree Programme
 
(iii) Applicant must fill the prescribed scholarship application form
 
(iv) Applicant must be a form four leaver (KCSE 2013 Leavers).
 
(b) Criteria of Awarding Points
 
(i) Academic Competence
 
(ii) Economic Background
 
(iii) Being an Orphan/Challenged person.
 
(iv) Talent(s)
 
(v) Leadership ability
 
(vi) Recommendations by recognized institutions
 
(vii) Regional / County balance
 
(viii) Gender Balance
 
2. Student Discretionary Tuition Waiver
 
(a) Eligibility
 
(i) Applicant must have been a student of Mount Kenya University for not less than two (2) semesters/trimesters.
 
(ii) Applicant must complete the prescribed application form.
 
(iii) Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a Mount Kenya University Diploma or Degree Programme.
 
(b) Criteria of Awarding Points
 
(i) Academic Competence
 
(ii) Gender balance
 
(iii) Financial Challenges
 
(iv) Regional/County balance
 
(v) Talents
 
(vi) Recommendation by recognized organizations
