A leading Kenyan Financial Institution is seeking to recruit highly competent and focused individuals for the following position:

Marketing and Communications Manager

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, his/her key duties and responsibilities will be to:
  • Design appropriate marketing strategies for the Organization.
  • Draw up work plans for implementing the market strategies.
  • Develop customer value proposition that meet customers’ needs and expectations.
  • Conduct market research through maintenance of database on the Organization’s products and characteristic of the market.
  • Collect competitor product and service information and define the Organization’s competitive advantage through analyses of market share.
  • Collect market, customer and segment intelligence.
  • Identify and assess technological, legal and regulatory trends and opportunities and leverage them to the advantage of the Organization.
  • Analyze product and service performance and integrate information through analyses and enrichment of raw data in order to provide regular customer feedback, customer satisfaction score and product awareness.
  • Spearhead advertising and market campaigns aimed at making known the Organization’s products and enhancing its image.
  • Brand and image building.
  • Generate member demand through marketing campaigns, promotions, leads etc
  • Constantly interact with members, competitors, business leaders in order to proactively feed the insights into the business to support product management and development, sales, cross-sell opportunities and service offerings.
  • Lead efforts at development of new products and services.
  • Define member characteristics and target members that are cost effective to target, service and retain.
  • Evaluate the viability of newly introduced products and their continued success.
  • Regular reviews of market and member needs against existing products and service strategies in order to identify products and service gaps.
  • Develop specific products, services or innovations that are segmented and differentiated and offer competitive advantage.
  • Advise the Customer Service and Loans sections on cross selling of and top up products to existing member base.
  • Participate in formulation and implementation of the Organization’s corporate communication and responsibility agenda.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization.
  • Strategize with communications stakeholders to identify high level communication priorities.
  • Draw up communication plans and creative briefs.
  • Research and analyze information and stakeholder audiences.
  • Manage the website, social media and other channels of information.
  • Communicate and coordinate corporate events such as conferences, workshops and Seminars
  • Write announcements and other communication materials
  • Prepare presentations and manage overall communication program to fulfill the goals and objectives ofthe Organization program.
  • Lead on-going projects and teams for the purpose of implementing specific communication projects associated with communications program within a given time frame.
  • Strengthen the client relationship and ensure high quality service to customers.
  • Create consistent and compelling positioning, messaging and tactics consistent with the Organization’s communications strategy.
  • Develop change and leadership strategies and tactics that can overcome resistance from a variety of stakeholders and mitigate on communication challenges.
  • Lead and participate in formulation and implementation of the Organization’s corporate social responsibility strategy.
  • Ensure that clients and internal customers are accorded products and customer service that are innovative and responsive and meet their needs and expectations.
  • Lead the Marketing and Communications team members to deliver all planned and agreed Corporate and individual performance targets to ensure that the section is efficient and value adding to the Organization.
  • Coordinate and supervise the day to day running of the section to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Advise the Organization leadership on the market dynamics, trends and characteristics to enable formulation and implementation of policies that deliver business advantage.
  • Ensure development of team members through perlormance feedback, recommending training where appropriate and coach and mentor individuals for growth.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Degree in Marketing / Business Management / Cooperative Management or Communications, journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Previous relevant work experience required
  • At least 5 years working experience; of which at least two must be at supervisory level.
