A leading Kenyan Financial Institution is seeking to recruit highly competent and focused individuals for the following position:

Procurement Manager

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, his/her duties will be to:
  • Lead the Procurement and stores team to deliver all planned and agreed department and individual performance targets to ensure that the Procurement department is efficient, effective and value adding to the Organization.
  • Ensure development of self as well as all team members through performance management, performance feedback, recommend training and development interventions where appropriate and coach and mentor individuals for growth.
  • Provide exemplary external and internal customer service to both external and internal customers by providing required information and advice on procurement issues.
  • Periodic review of the Organization’s Procurement policy and procedures to ensure adherence to global procurement best practices.
  • Support procurement planning for Organization.
  • Develop the Organization’s annual procurement plan in liaison with the Heads of Department.
  • Facilitate sourcing and competitive procurement of supplies, equipment, general office supplies and services.
  • Sit as Secretary to the Tender Committee and the Disposal Committee.
  • Maintain records of the Organization’s Procurement and Disposal Committee meetings.
  • Prepare and issue awards and debriefing letters to tenderers.
  • Conduct performance evaluation of suppliers of goods and/or services.
  • Continually identify cheaper sources of goods and /or supplies to cut down on costs.
  • Issue out local purchase orders and service orders.
  • Recommend the negotiating team participants to the accounting office.
  • Liaise with PPOA and other bodies on matters relating to procurement and disposal.
  • Leasing/sourcing for premises.
  • Periodic review of Stock Management Policy for the Organization.
  • Manage stores environment in a clean and safe way.
  • Manage stores stocks based on FIFO.
  • Ensure maintenance of optimum inventory levels in stores to avoid excessive stock holding and manage costs while ensuring efficient processes in the Organization.
  • Provide stock issuance and stock level reports to ensure cost management within the Organization.
  • Ensure compliance with the procurement act and procurement policy and procedure guidelines in any business transaction.
  • Issue office stationery and other stores stocks to Departments and Units fully complying with the Stores policy and procedures.
  • Maintain stock records to ensure optimum stock levels.
  • Prepare monthly procurement and stores reconciliation reports for review by Management.
  • Maintain stock inventory and accountability documents.
  • Sourcing for suitable premises and negotiating prices.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and other period procurement and stores reports.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the CEO.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Purchasing and Supplies or a business related degree
  • A business related degree plus a diploma in procurement and supplies management.
Previous relevant work experience required.
  • 3 years previous working experience in procurement
