one of the leading companies in producing Human food and animal feeds, is looking for an In-Bound Logistics Manager.
 
The Role: Manage and report the in-bound logistical process as guided by the company’s standard operating procedures to ensure that factors of quality, quantity, costs and timeliness are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive consignment orders and manage the end-to-end movement of the loads from suppliers to the destination. This can either be through air, sea, road or rail. This entails ensuring that the right modes of transport are used for transporting the correct deliveries.
  • Ensure that consignments that are in transit are stored (and packaged) as per the approved standards and procedures of the company and the respective regulator. This includes of management of the health and safety environment of the consignments.
  • Fully understand the insurance policies governing consignments within the logistical process and ensure that the consignments are covered under proper insurance terms and that they are accompanied by the appropriate approved documentation.
  • Direct the activities of staff in relation to transportation operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles.
  • Fully understand the payment process existing within the logistical process and ensure that they are made accurately and on time.
  • Manage the corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to the entire in-bound logistics process.
  • Maintain a working relationship with international suppliers and freight forwarders to streamline the flow of goods across international borders.
  • Have a thorough grasp of customs procedures to ensure the in-bound logistical processes and procedures abide to the relevant regulations.
  • Manage the delivery process of consignments to ensure that standards and procedures are followed. Reconcile goods received against those delivered from point of discharge.
  • Manage all vendor relationships related to the in-bound logistics process e.g., third party logistics, transporters, security.
  • Collaborate with staff, other departments, senior management, and decision makers to share information, problem solve, and to clarify management objectives relevant to the in-bound logistics process.
  • Stay informed of advances in Logistics technology and approaches, and apply within the organization to improve supply chain processes
  • Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of in-bound logistics personnel
Minimum Requirements:
 
The position is a very hands-on role, requiring a highly driven individual who will hit the ground running.  

The successful candidate will have:
  • University degree in a business related field
  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management from a reputable institution of higher learning will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5years’ relevant experience which should include hands on experience in import and export procedures.
  • Working knowledge of ERP system
  • Highly computer literate with intermediate level proficiency in MS Office applications i.e. word, excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Outlook
  • High capacity for work.
  • Results driven.
  • Supervisory skills with ability to guide staff
  • Ability to relate well with both internal and external customers as well as in teams
  • Absolute and unquestioned integrity, confidentiality and respect
  • Positive, energetic self-starter with a high level of personal drive and resilience
  • Not more than 35 years of age.
