Head of Money Markets

The successful person will be based at our Head office in Nairobi and will report to the Bank’s Treasurer.

Job Summary

The Head of Money markets is expected to;
  • Supervise and manage the dealing staff in the Money Market unit
  • Oversee daily management of the Central Bank clearing accounts; The Intra-day Liquidity Facility (ILF) and Domestic Foreign Currency (DFCC) accounts at CBK
  • Responsible for the appropriate and timely funding for all the Bank’s accounts held offshore
  • Strategic management of the Bank’s liquid investments portfolio and fixed income trading book
  • Undertake various analysis to determine funding gaps and liquidity mismatches and recommend appropriate strategy
Job specification

The incumbent will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
  • University Degree in business or finance
  • ACI Certified Dealer qualification
  • At least a minimum of 5 years in active treasury trading environment as a Dealer
  • A good knowledge of local and international markets and ability to analyse economic trends
  • Excellent knowledge of interest rates and fixed income trading plus a working knowledge of foreign exchange markets
  • Ability to operate in automated environments using Reuters trading platforms and operational understanding of SWIFT
  • Good knowledge of market risks and their potential impact to banks
  • Proactive individual who makes periodic analysis of the market and economic environment

Dealer, Treasury Sales & Marketing

The successful person will report to the Head, Treasury Sales & Marketing in the Treasury and will be based in Mombasa.

Job Summary

The job holder will be responsible for supporting the Treasurer in ensuring efficient and effective delivery of the full range of treasury products and services. Additionally, the incumbent will drive the treasury sales and marketing initiatives in conjunction with our Coast based branches teams.

Job specification

The incumbent will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
  • Banking experience for a period not less than 3 years with a minimum of 2 years in foreign exchange sales or trading; working knowledge of the money market function and treasury back office operations
  • A bachelor’s degree in a business related field
  • ACI dealing certificate OR in progress of attaining this qualification
  • Good understanding of the Banking Act, CBK prudential guidelines on Foreign Exchange and their implications on the organisation
  • Articulate individual ability to conceptualise foreign exchange market needs and draw an appropriate sales plan and value propositions targeting new and existing customers
  • A good understanding of the international foreign exchange market and local money market products
  • Very good oral and written presentation skills with full comfort of using Ms Office Suite
