SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is an independent non-governmental organization, affiliated to SOS - International whose mission is to build families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.

Currently SOS Children’s Villages Kenya has five children villages in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret and Meru, the Kisumu Village is under construction. SOS Children’s Villages Kenya provides infrastructure in education, health and homes to children in need.

We also work with local communities under the family strengthening program.

We seek to recruit dynamic and experienced persons to the positions of Education manager, Personal Assistant to the National Director, Fund Raising and Communication officer, and Youth leader

Education and Training Manager

He/she supports the National Director and Hermann Gmeiner Schools Principals on all matters pertaining to education, in particular the provision and supervision of all technical elements in the SOS Children’s Villages Kenya Hermann Gmeiner schools.

He/she supports the Village Directors in coordinating and monitoring the academic performance of all the SOS children to achieve the highest level of education and academic excellence

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the implementation of the organisation training and education strategy
  • Establish and maintain academic networking structure with local and international partners
  • Guides and coordinates educational and training activities in the organisation
  • Ensure implementation of education curriculum as outlined by the Ministry of Education.
  • Ensuring a good working relationship is sustained in a positive and motivating environment.
Personnel profile
  • Post Graduate degree in Education, any other training in the education sector shall be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the education sector in a senior management position.
  • Excellent skills in knowledge transfer, leadership and communication
  • Understand policies & principles that guide education sector inline with Ministry of Education.
  • Demonstrated interest in the needs and development of children
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programmes
  • Be a person of integrity with a passion for working with children
  • Must have teaching skills
Fundraising and Communications Officer

Report to the Fundraising and Communication Manager - Nairobi.

She/he will handle publications & memorabilia, dealing with public relations, direct communications with individual and corporate sponsors, the media, donors and the organisation design and desk top publishing.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the implementation of the organisation media strategy, including media liaison, production of press releases and briefings.
  • Develop communication material and coordinate publications while maintaining quality standards: edits annual reports, brochures and newsletters
  • Develop and maintain professional contacts with print and electronic media
  • Develop communications plan, create a resource centre and contribute to the strategic plan.
  • Support development & implement of comprehensive and integrated communications strategy
  • Produce publicity materials, partnership and marketing Materials.
  • Network with other NGOs, corporate sponsors, donors for information sharing and gathering.
  • Support documentations of all units in the organization.
Personnel profile
  • University degree in Communication/Public Relations, post graduate Diploma in journalism, shall be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent skills in , networking, leadership and communication
  • Proven ability to plan
  • Be a person of integrity with a passion working for children
Personal Assistant to the National Director

The Personal Assistant to the National Director provides a full range of secretarial and administrative support to the National Director.

S/he shall take responsibility for the overall administrative organisation of the National Director’s Office and proactively respond to organisational needs.

Key duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest relations on behalf of the National Director.
  • Organising and maintaining the National Director’s diary and making appointments.
  • Assist with the planning, co-ordinating and preparation of materials for meetings.
  • Compile reports from projects and departments.
  • Manage all the administrative/secretarial work in the National Director’s office.
  • Dealing with the incoming mails and phone call in the absence of the National Director.
Personnel profile
  • University degree in social science preferably administration, qualifications in communication/public relations shall be an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a busy organization.
  • Strong sense of social decorum and organisation protocol, accuracy and professionalism
  • Excellent skills in communication and report writing.
  • Good command of English language and an eye for details
  • Maintain proper filling system for all the documents in the National Director’s office
Youth Care Co-Worker (Female)

A position in Eldoret, the Youth care co-worker is responsible for guiding Youth towards independence, self-sufficiency and becoming contributing members of society by being role model and providing guidance.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Act as a role model for the youth and be accessible to the youth at all times
  • Guide the personal development of the youth.
  • Provide educational and career guidance for youth.
  • Promote youth community service and integration.
  • Co-ordinate youth development programmes.
Personnel Profile
  • University Degree in social sciences, qualifications in guidance & counselling, youth leadership/psychology sociology and teaching is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience working with the youth
  • Strong sense of social decorum, innovative, self drive, & emotionally stable person
  • Demonstrate skills to handle youth psychological and social related problems effectively.
  • Proven leadership qualities, participation in Youth activities inclined with youth dynamics.
A position in Eldoret, the Youth care co worker is responsible for guiding Youth towards independence, self-sufficiency and becoming contributing members of society by being role model and providing guidance.
