Overall Job Purpose

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Civil, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Allocate work to and supervise all civil maintenance staff to ensure that work is done in an effective and timely manner.
  • Assist in the technical evaluation of contracts for civil works contracted to external contractors
  • Inspect and ensure that all the civil installations are well maintained.
  • Prepare monthly reports to Engineer (civil) on the progress of implementation of all programmed and unprogrammed civil projects within the specific area of supervision.
  • Inspect civil engineering works, modify and supervise repair work and maintenance
  • Conduct field checks on a regular basis to ensure that staff observes safety regulations when carrying out their day to day work.
  • Maintain water supply systems in the plant.
  • Review incidents of violations against organizational policy and regulations as well as handle employee disputes and take appropriate action in line with approved policies, procedures and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience gained in civil operations.
Key Competencies
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of civil engineering.
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including ability to prepare relevant reports.
  • Proficiency in computer applications used for engineering drawing and design.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in risk management and quality assurance.
  • Must be practical, creative with problem solving skills and ability to work under no supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently.
  • Ability to establish flexible multidisciplinary teams in an environment conducive to continuous learning, creativity and innovation.
