The Kenya Episcopal Conference - Catholic Secretariat wishes to announce the following position in its Catholic Justice and Peace Commission

Title of the post: National Executive Secretary

Purpose of the post

To provide technical, management and leadership support to the Commission so as to ensure high level performance in conceptualizing, formulating and implementing appropriate initiatives for National – level Justice and peace interventions and enhance the capacity of dioceses.

Type of Appointment: Contract.

Reporting Line: To Secretary General

Duties
  • Spearhead the development and review of key strategies and plans related to the Commission
  • Manage and lead the technical implementation of the Commission’s strategy and plans ensuring that services adhere to the overall strategy and mandate of the KEC-CS.
  • Spearhead the conceptualization, formulation and implementation of National –Level advocacy and Peace Building initiatives.
  • Foster and strengthen national –level networking s of various Catholic Services to people displaced by clashes ( conflict – related IDPS )
  • Develop initiatives for KEC ‘s policy Advocacy and influence on National trends on pressing issues touching on Good Governance
  • Develop proposals for fundraising to support Catholic Justice and Peace programme
  • To provide leadership to the Commission as a member of Senior management Team
  • Prepare progress reports to KEC, Donor and other stakeholders
Qualifications
  • A Masters Degree in relevant field (Human Rights ,Advocacy Policy analysis)
  • Minimum 5 years experience management and implementation of civic Education or policy analysis Kenya
  • Demonstrate leadership and management abilities in working with other technical advisors and experts Justice and peace issues
  • Self driven and strategic thinker able to work without supervision and proactive in designing Catholic Justice and Peace promoting programmes
  • Should have excellent Communication skills
  • Must demonstrate high level of initiative , honesty, dynamic strategic thinking
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • A person of attested integrity
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills required.
Performance Indicators
  • Extent of carrying out duties and responsibility above.
Personal Traits
  • Must be a committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own parish priest
