Vacancy in the Position of Chairperson of the Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Management Service Board

The Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Management Service Act, 2011


Pursuant to Section 5 (2) (a) of the Kenya Citizens and Foreign National Management Service Act, 2011, the Public Service Commission of Kenya seeks to nominate persons to be considered for appointment to the position of Chairperson of the Board by His Excellency the President.

Responsibilities of the Board

The Board shall be responsible, through Cabinet Secretary, to the people of Kenya for:

(i) formulation and review of the policies of the service in accordance with constitutional values and principles including the principle on public participation;

(ii) monitoring of the performance of the service;

(iii) appointment, training, discipline and removal of members of staff of the service;

(iv) establishing departments within the service and allocating responsibilities to such departments; and

(v) reviewing and recommending for review laws and regulations for the better management of the act.

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified Kenyans wishing to be considered for nomination by the Public Service Commission of Kenya.

For nomination to this position, a candidate must:

(i) possess a bachelor’s degree in any of the social science disciplines from a university recognized in Kenya;

(ii) have at least fifteen (15) years distinguished post qualification experience in their field of study, ten (10) of which should have been at senior management level in the public service; and

(iii) meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of kenya.

Please Note:

(i) The position is part-time.

(ii) The 1st Chairperson shall serve for a term of six (6) years for transitional purposes but subsequent Chairpersons will serve for a single term of five (5) years.

(iii) A person shall not be qualified for nomination as a Chairperson of the Board of Kenya Citizens and Foreign Nationals Management Service if the person is a:
  • Member of Parliament;
  • Member of a Local Authority;
  • Member of the executive organ of a political party; and
  • Holder of dual citizenship.
(iv) The salary and benefits for the position shall be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

(v) Names of all applicants and the interview schedule of those shortlisted shall be published in the media and in the Commissions website www.publicservice.go.ke after the closure of the advert.

Applications should be made in writing and hand delivered to the Secretary’s office on the 4th floor, Commission House, off Harambee Avenue.

Each application should be accompanied with a detailed curriculum vitae, a copy of the National identity card and certified copies of academic certificates.

The supporting documents especially the Identity Card (ID) should be scanned and sent with the application.
