The Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), whose mandate is to promote and facilitate both Domestic and Foreign investments in Kenya, seeks to recruit suitable candidates for the following position:-

Job Title: Manager, Policy and Advocacy
 
Reports to: General Manager, Research Policy Advocacy and Planning
 
Division / Section / Unit: Research, Policy Advocacy and Planning.

  • Policy and Advocacy Officer
  • Research Officers
  • Interns
  • Temporal staff
Location: Head Office Nairobi
 
Job Purpose: To facilitate informed research and related services.
 
Roles and Responsibilities   
  • Facilitate regular meetings with investor services officers to discuss issues raised by investors, research on them to verify facts and timely communication of the same to the relevant Agencies;
  • Spearhead preparation of regular memos, policy briefs and media articles on improvement of investment policy and climate for consideration by policy makers;
  • Implementation and follow up of policy advocacy strategy to ensure that issues of concern to investors are addressed;
  • Identifying, selecting and acquiring publications, journals and any other relevant material for the resource centre;
  • Assisting in preparation of the Strategic Plan;
  • Researching on strategies to be adopted by the Authority to attain World-Class standards;
  • Performing and evaluating objectives as spelt out in the Strategic Plan;
  • reports to identify success and constraints for appropriate action;
  • Assisting in preparation of proposals for support from development partners;
  • Tracking implementation of recommendations made to Government Agencies;
  • Collecting information from stakeholders in relation to existing policies and administrative procedures; and
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specification:
 
Education and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Masters Degree from an accredited University with an emphasis in Economics, Management or in a related field.
  • A Postgraduate qualification is desirable.
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a management position;
  • Good organization and Management skills;
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Conversant with topical local and international research and policy issues;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills;
  • Good analytical and report writing skills;
  • Computer literacy; and
  • Team leader.
Key Performance Indicators   
  • Number of memos, policy briefs and media articles
  • Number of Research papers and publications.
  • Number of policies addressed
  • Number of presentations in public investment forums
  • Ranking (WAIPA, UNCTAD, etc) of KenInvest
  • Number of meetings with investor services officers.
