We are a leading National SACCO with a membership of over 13,000 spread across Kenya. 

The SACCO is seeking to fill the following vacant positions to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
 
Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for ensuring profitable growth of the SACCO and ensuring that key pillars of the SACCO namely efficiency in operation, effective customer service, transparency and accountability are upheld.

Key Responsibilities:
 

Job Profile
  • Lead the implementation of the transformation strategy with the Board and proactively provide insights and direction to the implementation of committed and planned projects on time and budget. 
  • Establishing effective internal monitoring and control systems in executing the strategy
  • Oversee resource mobilization planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching all project financial funding competitively with the right mix of financing
  • Oversee execution of management and financial accounting roles and ensure ICT is leveraged in support of operation effectiveness
  • Oversee lean, safe and effective operations of the Sacco in generating assets, ensuring embedment of best operational practices across the business value chain
  • Help shape regulatory evolution in the Sacco sector and maintain very strong relationships with key stakeholders both local and international on all planned Sacco capacity expansion
  • Ensure the Sacco compliance with applicable statutory, legal and regulatory requirements and standards and manage existing and emerging business risks
  • Develop and nurture a dynamic and competent workforce through a robust performance-driven culture
  • Implement Board decisions efficiently and effectively informing the Board in all strategic aspects of the Sacco
  • Formulate and implement best practice management principles and effective communication between the Management/Staff and the Board of Directors so as to promote ethical practices and good corporate citizenship
  • Act as a principal spokesperson for the organization and its mission, ensure that products and services are consistently presented in a strong positive image to relevant stakeholders
Qualifications and Experience
 
Person Profile
  • Demonstrated distinguished leadership with a track record of achievement in the Financial sector or private sector backed with a minimum seven (7) years in senior management roles
  • A transformative and change leader, keen on detail and strict deadlines with undisputable respect and integrity
  • Track record of strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, and management policies, strategies and systems
  • Highly analytic and strategic with the ability to appreciate the big picture and context, and effectively implement the same in practical terms
Education Profile
  • A holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, Commerce, Economics or other business related degree from a reputable/recognized university.
  • A certified CPA (K)/ACCA. 
  • A Master’s degree preferably in Strategic management is an added advantage.
  • Membership to relevant professional body is a requirement
Systems Administrator
 
Overall Purpose of the Job
 
The systems Administrator’s role is to design, install, administer, and optimize the Sacco servers and related components to achieve high performance of various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. 

This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new applications, developing processes and procedures for the server environment. 

The Systems Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical and logical security, integrity, and safety of the data center.
 
He/She will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the Sacco. 

He/She will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation, Planning and Implementation phases of the Sacco’s IT Project Management. 

The key activities include technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies for client/server implementations: architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies
  • Act as project lead in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conducting capacity planning as needed
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identifying approaches that leverage the Sacco resources and provide economies of scale
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures, contributing to and maintaining system standards
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning, coming up with a user help desk management system
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software
Education and Professional Qualifications
  • Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science
  • Be in possession of industry standard certifications such as MCSE or CCNA/CCNP
  • Have a thorough knowledge in Database Administration with skills in SQL and Oracle
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server OS & Linux OS will be an added advantage
  • High level of integrity, a self-starter and a team player
Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum 4 years systems administration experience in a financial institution or SACCO
  • Experience in SACCO running an integrated BOSA and FOSA system, Accounting Packages, Mobile Applications and be conversant with SASRA standards and reporting
  • Adequate knowledge of Regulatory framework in the financial/Sacco sector will be an added advantage
