Job Title: Career Counseling Internship

To serve as a resource person and career advisor to students, pre-college students, university students and employed professionals seeking to change careers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret assessment tests and assist clients in identifying their areas of interest and careers that would be suitable for them
  • Help clients draw up action plans for subject selection, education, employment and training and support them to achieve these goals
  • Research careers, options and support organizations to meet clients needs
  • Advice clients on how to source relevant training courses or qualifications and what funding might be available
  • Run small group sessions or larger presentations on all aspects of careers work and topics related to personal development
  • Develop and conduct career planning and professional development seminars within assigned territory
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of educational programs and career conferences
  • Research and write career literature; provide fresh web content related to careers
  • Advise students on internship, and post-graduate employment opportunities and strategies for career success.
  • Create, schedule, conduct and evaluate career programming on a variety of topics to include but not limited to: CV writing, interview techniques, social media and the job search, and professionalism
  • Conduct regular outreach efforts including workshops and presentations; create, maintain and enhance relationships with institutions and hiring employers in the market increasing DYC visibility through institutional and corporate presentations and events.
Academic / Professional Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Possession of a Bachelor degree in a related discipline from a recognized University
  • Relevant professional certification is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of psychometric test interpretation will be an added advantage
  • Creative and innovative team player
  • Excellent analytical, planning, research and report-writing skills are required
