Our client a re-known Hospital in Nairobi targeting the middle and low income communities is in the processes of increasing its service delivery efficiency. 

This has necessitated the need to acquire an ambulance and the hospital is thus looking out for an experienced ambulance driver.
 
Vacant Position: EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Driver
Reporting: Medical Officer in Charge
 

Supervision: None
 
Job Summary: To drive the ambulance with utmost care, ensure safety of the patient and assist the paramedic with patient care.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Vehicle and personal service readiness
  • Assist in patient management both on scene and en-route
  • Efficient and safe driving
  • Management of accident incidences
  • Operating and ensuring all equipment on board is in good working order
  • Logging on the work ticket and the mileage done per rescue
  • Managing costs per rescue
  • Regular stock taking of the equipments and accessories on board and reporting
  • Daily vehicle inspection and cleaning
  • Timely reporting of vehicle defects
  • Attending to vehicle mechanical emergencies
  • Assist at the casualty whenever the ambulance is idle
Key Performance Measures
  • Vehicle and personal service readiness
  • Patient satisfaction with level and quality of service
  • Number of accidents and management of accident incidences
  • Defensive driving skills and good driving skills
  • Adequate knowledge in operation of Equipment on board
  • Accuracy in Logging of mileage done per rescue
  • Minimized costs per rescue
  • Confidentiality of patients
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to assess risks and take appropriate action
  • Good handling and care of patients
Qualification, Competencies Required
  • Emergency Medical Technician Basic or Intermediate course in a recognized institution
  • High School Education
  • Valid Driving license with Class BCE
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an Ambulance Driver
  • Basic Vehicle Mechanical Knowledge
  • Computer Literacy
  • 30 – 40 years of age
  • Good interpersonal skills and team work
  • Excellent organization skills
