The Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya / Djibouti Programme is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national for the following position, to be based at Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.
 
Social Worker 
 
Reporting to the Senior Community Services officer, the Social worker will provide support to people who have been socially excluded, experiencing crisis, violence, strenuous relationship or a challenging situation with guidance, counseling, giving direction for access to various services and social support

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect data of survivors from incident recorder GBIVIMIS Gender Based Violence, traumatic incidences, social excluded persons, pregnant/ teenage mothers, persons with disability and elderly.
  • Debriefing, reassurance and maintaining confidentiality of all data gathered from the client.
  • Carry out interviews with the identified client and if need be with the family for referral to the most appropriate service.
  • Provide professional and confidential debriefings for identify cases requiring psycho-social support.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of clients served and referred to various services.
  • To follow-up cases that have been referred for other services/agencies.
  • Have empathy, tact and patience in dealing with clients especially those that are slow to change or do not accept to be helped.
  • Generate a report on case by case progress.
  • Continue debriefing support to the client for full healing process.
  • Continuous assessment of social welfare of the client and any additional referrals.
  • Create awareness on the existing SGBV referral pathway and carry out family/couple based group therapy.
Professional qualification & Experience
  • Background education degree in Social work with skills in counselling and communication skills
  • Diploma in Social Work with 5years of work experience in handling community and social welfare programmes.
  • With a wide experience in handling various groups that require social welfare support, survivors of SGBV, traumatic incidences, women at risk, single parent, vulnerable families and persons with disability.
  • Experience in working within refugee context will be an added advantage.
