Oxfam in Somalia Project Manager
 
Location: Hargeisa, Somaliland with regular field trips to Puntland
 
Salary and Benefits: GBP 21,768 -31,014 Annual
 
Level: C2 National +
 
Contract Type: One year Fixed

The Role: The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for management and delivery of an EC funded project on support to artisanal fisheries and coastal management in Somaliland and Puntland. 

The project will strengthen the capacity of public and private sector institutions involved in fish production and marketing. It will contribute to building a more robust fisheries sector.
 

The Person: Oxfam is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to support capacity development and management of Oxfam’s local partners, technical experts to be based in the ministries and government counterparts to administer the project activities and deliver the planned outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will be a graduate with five years experience of managing development programmes. 

You should have either experience in the fisheries sector or institutional capacity-building of government institutions preferably in Somalia. 

You should have in-depth expertise in the political and cultural context in Somaliland and Puntland. 

You need to feel confident working in a large organisation with high workloads and a large number of stakeholders. 

You must be able to represent the organisation externally in a professional manner as well as be sensitive to gender issues and be able to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts. 

Knowledge and experience of working in Puntland and Somaliland and ability to speak and write Somali is highly desirable. 

You must be an excellent communicator, be fluent in written and spoken English and be willing to travel at short notice. You will also have a proven ability in analysing fast changing situations and be able to come up with creative solutions to the issues that Somalia faces.
