Human Resources Officer
 
CAP Youth Empowerment Institute Kenya, is supported by MasterCard Foundation, was established to provide Basic Employability Skills Training (BEST) for disadvantaged youth in the society with particular focus on women to get equitable, qualitative learning and access to promising labour market oriented opportunities, savings and credit that support their pathways to safe and positive futures.

The key purpose of the organization is to assist 10,000 disadvantaged youth to make informed choices, develop labour-market oriented employability skills and access job placements, savings and enterprise development support. 
Overall Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Project Director, the incumbent will provide support in the areas of contract management, recruitment, employee relations and performance management. 

Contract duration: 6 months renewable

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparing job adverts and advertising them.
  • Shortlisting job applications.
  • Updating and maintaining all employee Files.
  • Preparation of appointment letters/contracts
  • Opening personnel files for all new employees.
  • Drafting and issuing staff separation letters and clearance forms to exiting employees.
  • Implementation and monitoring of adherence to CAPYEI policies.
  • Generating staff data information reports as requested.
  • Generating staff turnover statistics.
  • Preparing performance appraisals reports.
  • Monitoring staff contracts.
  • Processing contract renewal letters.
  • Processing other staff letters in relation to their contracts ( e.g. Transfer, promotion letters etc)
  • Updating personal files for staff with respective letters.
  • Processing consultancy contracts.
  • Auditing employees files to ensure all documents are available.
  • Maintaining and updating contract renewal log.
  • Receiving all performance evaluation forms and filing on physical files.
  • Providing support on grievance and disciplinary procedure handling.
  • Filing and circulation of progressive reports as required.
  • Handling or accelerating the various employee issues to achieve optimal solutions.
Qualifications
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Relevant Degree
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications, teamwork and collaborating abilities
  • Experience using standard editing/proofreading marks and graphic layout designing.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and must work well under deadlines
  • 2-3 years working experience in this field.
