Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya / Djibouti Programme is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national for the following position to be based at Dadaab Refugee complex Kenya - (UNHCR-IP, Dadaab main office Compound)

Job Vacancy: Plant Operator / Mechanic
 
The staff shall be responsible for troubleshoot, service, maintain, repair ,keep records for fuel supply and consumption, assemble, Overhaul when necessary, disassemble and perform visual inspection of whole or parts of the three generators that are in use within a compound in use by Implementing partners of the UN at Dadaab refugee camp. 

He/she shall report to the construction officer.

Duties and Responsibilities shall include:

  • Take lead in the management of the shared genset in terms of routine maintenance, repairs, services, fueling, cleaning, and reporting, only requesting the assistance of the electricians on need basis
  • Analyze and interpret data from environmental tests and troubleshoot equipment (Generator) problems, whenever they arise.
  • Set-up of a routine maintenance schedule, recording of operational data in collaboration with electrical technicians also attached to the operation of the generators.
  • Provide supervision, mentorship and leadership of any contracted labourers on the generator in the absence of the construction officer.
  • Maintain equipment records and filing systems as part of quality control and assurance programs in generator operation.
  • Manage the supply, storage and use of allocation of monthly generator fuel and keep records of the same.
  • Compile and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports concerning the state and operation of the generator including fuel consumption to the construction officer.
  • Attend to generator related issues as summoned instructed by supervisor in partner agency compounds while giving priority to the running of the shared generators.
Professional Qualification:
  • Higher national diploma or Ordinary diploma in Electro- Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering, Plant maintenance or related field from a reputable institution.
  • Competent servicing, maintenance and repair of in fluid power engines, AC/DC circuits, and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Proficient in the use of multimeters, megohmmeters, and other basic power instruments.
  • At least 4 years maintenance related experience in electro-mechanical function or preferably servicing generators in busy environments
  • Proficient in the use of computers for basic office packages such as M/s officesuit.
