Kone is looking to recruit a Business Development Director - East Africa based in our Nairobi office.
 
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a business development strategy that is aligned to the organisations global vision. 

You will lead, direct, and control all business development activities to meet the organization’s short and long-term business objectives with a focus on the development of sales and sales support, marketing, major projects and key accounts to ensure achievement of  specific targets across the East Africa region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making at unit, area and global management team level.
  • Identify, evaluate, negotiate and manage the most complex or strategically important business opportunities that will contribute to the organization’s short and long-term business goals.
  • Evaluate the findings of market research/analysis and utilize the information in business development and assess the viability of alternative opportunities, and present recommendations to unit/area/global business leaders.
  • Establish high-level, significant relationships with potential clients, customers, partners, key decision-makers, and industry leaders to promote the organization’s products and services.
  • Lead the most important, complex, meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners to pursue business opportunities and protect the organization’s business interests.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team to achieve established sales and business development goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ degree in sales, marketing, accounting, finance, business, economics or engineering.  MBA degree is preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in business development 5 of which must have been in a comparable role.
  • Experience in the elevator/escalator or construction industry is an added advantage.
  • Excellent skills in Account planning, customer management models, budgeting  and reporting
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in prospecting, qualifying, structuring, negotiating, and closing partnership deals & strategic alliances
  • Ability to travel
