Workshop Manager - Mombasa

Our client, a heavy haulage company operating in Eastern and Central Africa, is looking for an experienced workshop manager with strong technical and leadership skills to pro-actively lead a team of 140+ technical and administration staff, and ensure excellent fleet maintenance standards for the 150+ trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development of workshop’s annual plans, short and long term objectives
  • Co-ordinate resources, operational and human schedules to effectively manage the day to day operations, liaising with operations department on requirements
  • Factual reporting on fleet maintenance with performance analysis pertaining to each asset
  • Continuous improvement management to enhance operational efficiencies ensuring faster vehicle turnaround and cost control
Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Experience in the heavy haulage industry
  • A bachelor’s degree (engineering advantageous). Depth and breathe of skills, knowledge and hands on experience, with some technical training overrides the need for a degree
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in fleet maintenance, 3 of which in a managerial position
  • Ability to communicate/influence at all levels, coach for performance and build a cohesive team
  • Ability to problem solve, work under high pressure, manage time and resources
  • Computer literate, flexible, resilient and results oriented
